Yes it does. Be honest. I may not enjoy being an Aspie nerd all the time, but I have no illusions about who & what I am. And should a nerd be so lucky to get inside Mariah Carey's house! And with her in sexy lingerie to boot! :D

If the Tech Support Guy in the video had been me, I would have made the most of my situation.

Some aspies are self-described nerds/geeks, but many do not fit this description.

Some Aspie nerds are deep in denial. I think the severity of the AS dictates the nerdiness of the individual. Since AS is a spectrum, it's presents differently. But they don't call it the Geek Syndrome for nothing.

They call it the "geek syndrome" for people with AS are drawn to specialised knowledge like "geeks" are, but with AS, it needn't be over "geek" things. And traditionally, "geeks" aren't that good socially, but that's due to social dynamics rather than lacking the innate skills to socialize (undesirable to totally alien). A person with AS won't be able to interact with a geek any better than a "cool" person.

Sure, the dude with AS who is interested in Star Trek will probably be second to none on the geek scale, especially if he is one to talk of his interest; another dude can be interested in...something "cool" and be seen as anything but a geek.

Not that there's anything wrong with being a geek, it's just not correct that all people with AS are firewall erecting, pseudonym purveying, Fallout playing, Neuromancer reading neurotics.

I am, but it doesn't mean you are. :P

And some Aspies are too focused on relating to certain groups/people because they feel like losers, which is a self fufilling prophecy. They decide that they themselves share some traits with said group or person and therefore everyone else must relate also.

I'm hinting at something vert strongly here, slowmutant.

Are all autistic people from all other the spectrum, from hf to lf, nerds too?

If not: not all people with AS are nerds/geeks.

Severity seems to have nothing to do with it either. My therapist says I'm extremely hf, but here, the majority of people make me look mf for whatever reason. But I'm not geeky.

AS has nothing to do with personality.

I know perfectly empathic, socially able and nice NTs who are extreme geeks/nerds.

I didn't get what you were hinting at, but I came very close. :)

Public schools "teach" atheism simply by refusing to address religion. You can "teach" illiteracy the same way.

Re: your sig

How would you draw up a cirriculum vitae for Atheism? And by doing so, wouldn't you admit atheism is itself a religion? The founders and pioneers of atheistic thought are its de facto clergy. The God of all atheists isn't Yahweh but Mammon, the god of materialism and secular pursuits. Same diff.

I think that it does. I sit in front of the computer, a lot and I happen to wear Horn-rimmed glasses. :P

I've always thought Rush's video for Subdivisions was a pretty accurate portrayal of nerds in the 80s:
