am dont think the new forum is run by autism speaks,is run by the users?

am havent used the new forum, but am do remember hearing AS were closing the old one because of the fighting on there....cant see them running a new one,as they still wouldnt have enough mods for it?..........if it is a community run unofficial AS board,it sounds like it has the autism community hiearchy that many users wanted to create,am remember users on there often said autists should either not be allowed,or be seperated from them, discrimination is alive and well.

Are you MOST aspies?

Last I checked, the unemployment rate for aspies was pretty damn high.

If that is true that you can surely provide evidence for your claim rather than attacking aspies who have and do support theirselves

Where did I attack self-supporting aspies? Do YOU have any evidence for that claim?

So much for aspies being more logical and rational, which is a load of BS.

BTW, the aspie employment rate is 12%: http://www.angelfire.com/amiga/aut/employment.html

That's an 88% unemployment rate!

listen pal, the unemplyment rate of aspies hasnt got a god damned thing to do with wat this poll is for. take ur little debate off this thread and make ur own!

No. Not at all. I wouldn't like them even if I was pro-cure.

It is run by autism speaks. They have a forum for mums, another dad's another for teachers and another for single parents, all under the banner of autism speaks.

maybe I was a bit of hothead with my words above .... it just seems weird to name organisation "autism speaks" .... and then appear to want to exclude people with autism.

I wonder why they closed the last more open forum. .... and now the new forums so obviously don't include a place of people with autism.

Autism Speaks is the Mafia of Autism!

We should protest with these short chants!

Hey hey, ho ho, Autism Speaks has got to go!
Hey hey, ho ho, Autism Speaks has got to go!

2-4-6-8, what makes you trust Autism Speaks?

I especially love the part about where their money goes. And Autism Speaks publicly print their budget. Idiots?
They are openly hostile towards us, and attempt to snuff out any protest. What's not to hate?
<rant>
IpsoRandomo, I love how your link proving your point leads to a near-blank page. Your statistics suck, get new ones. And honor the thread creator's intentions and DON'T BRING IT UP AGAIN! </rant>

I watched the 7 minute version of Autism Speaks' "Autism Every Day" video on YouTube. I'd share it, but Autism Speaks has blocked embedding it. It was nothing more than a pity party for the parents. Seven minutes of parents whining about how difficult their lives are because they have an autistic child. There were a few instances of child abuse too. One parent was sitting on her child to brush his teeth. Another parent was whining about the strange looks she got when her 8 year old daughter was screaming because she didn't want to get on a playground swing. Why was the mother trying to force her to get on the swing?! :x

Neigh.

It's so creepy how some of the members talk about rather having their autistic kids, and all autistic dead and eliminated then to deal with another tantrum. 8O

An angelfire site is hardly sufficient evidence. Do you have a more reliable source?

No, as strange as it may seem, I do not like an organization that has a stated goal of making sure no one like me is ever born again and inundates the public with propaganda about how the world would be better if myself and people like me did not exist.

Not to mention that providing personal anecdotal experiences fails as valid evidence and valid proof.

But there is a group for autistics over there. You just weren't looking.

I got my very first piece of spam ever today. It was from Autism Speaks! :x

I had sent them an email telling them exactly how much I hated them and why, and they had the nerve to send me a piece of spam inviting me to some fundraising event! Grrr... :x
