I second this statement.
I believe AU should be forced to listen to I'm Too Sexy and We Built This City along with You're the Inspiration all played on top of Toxic for a week as punishment.

Hah, if they weren't insane before, that would do it. That's enough to mindf**k anyone.

Yup...especially if you translate half of each song into some really painful language...or take the annoying "techno" part of Toxic...lol...

What AU is doing is in very poor taste. :shameonyou: I may not agree with Scientology, but Mr. Travolta and his family are human beings first.

I second this notion.

Leave the poor Travolta's alone. Losing a child is hard enough, they don't need all this crap.

From what I gather from EVERY SINGLE REPORT in every single tabloid, John Travolta loved Jett more than he loved his own life. If given a choice, he would much rather die so that Jett could live. Travolta is a stooge for a very evil cult, but he is also human. People who only know these celebrities from the tabloids lose sight of the fact that these larger than life people have feelings and emotions, they're not cardboard.

John Travolta needs to grieve. He doesn't need fingers pointing at him for how he raised Jett-by all accounts, he did the best he could within the restrictive confines of his faith, which refuses to recognize the existence of neurological differences. To them, everything is the result of Xenu and his H bombs. Present them with somebody who is impervious to their psychotherapy techniques, like a low functioning autistic, and they're stumped. They just ignore him or her.

John Travolta is still one of the cult's top members, so Jett wouldn't disappear on his own, and no institutions exist in which he could have been stashed (Travolta would have likely refused to do that anyway). So the cult just avoided the subject, and ordered Travolta to hide his son. The story about Kawasaki Syndrome was likely concocted by cult handlers, and enabled them to blame Jett's problems on chemicals (Hubbard said that people suffer from all sorts of psychological problems due to chemicals, and that his various "rundowns" could purify people's bodies; there's even a Purification Rundown in Scientology). Ironically, a celebrity has recently had a son diagnosed with a REAL case of Kawasaki's, and is being treated. The first most people heard of it was regrettably from Travolta and his cult handlers, and their fake case of it.

Jett never changed, and many of Scientology's therapies require verbal communication, which LFA's don't have, so Jett couldn't be "helped" by the cult. So Jett was hidden away. Regrettable, but there was little Travolta could do. The cult has plenty of dirt on members, and if they try to leave everything gets dug up and thrown around. Travolta is reportedly bisexual, and once told cult bigwigs to get lost if they couldn't handle his same sex encounters. Scientology considers homosexuality evil, and gays to usually be beyond treatment; members are usually required to cut gay family and friends out of their lives. Travolta was too big a fish to be allowed to leave, so they forced him back in. Ultimately, they married him off to quell gay rumors. They did the same thing to Tom Cruise when he was rumored to be gay.

My sentiments exactly, don't AU have to common decency to respect peoples right to grieve. I may not care for Scientology, but John Travolta is one of the least vocal of the group.

I firstly think that Autism United is a misnomer as it does not unite all auties and aspies. It appears to be a “pro-cure organisation“.

I accept that the freedom to choose and practise your own religion applies to all people. Not just those whose religion you approve of.

I think that autism united should make a public apology and then leave John Travolta's family alone.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

You do realize that this topic is more than a year old, right? What was the point in digging this thread up?
