I think that if people just realize that autism is a developmental disorder then maybe they wont need to think about this issue.

Which is why it is so all-fired important that people who also believe this to be true, stand up and shout it from the rooftops, because otherwise, the only voice being heard is that of AS.

No that won't work - because they see "disorder" and think negative instantly. That's the sort of people we are dealing with.

Disorder implies something needs to be cured. "Differences" can be treated if need be, but don't have to.

Exactly. Funny what stigma certain words can carry. It's the same as 'suffer'... I hate reading that we 'suffer' from a 'disorder'. The only thing I ever suffer from is other people's prejudices.
