First off, I am diagnosed with Asperger's and I will NOT get any more shots.

When it comes to Vaccines...my personal theory, after hours upon hours of research. I research everything LOL

IMO: Vaccines are not good for people WITH autism. Classic Autism and Heavy Metal Poisoning have very similar symptoms! There are happy autistic children, stimming, smiling, happy....then there are the "autistic" children, melting down constantly, never smiling, just melting down...it's terrible and I have seen it. I have suspisions that cases like this may not be "autism" They are misdiagnosed. These are the children that need testing done, the ones who are miserable. I also think that FOR SOME PEOPLE vaccines can be deady..well check the vaers database, you will see. I think that vaccines given to people with autism can lead to negitive side effects, like increased meltdowns, increased sensory integration issues, panic disorder ETC. Our brains are not neuro typical, so we can't expect our brains to "detox" itself at the rate "typical" brains do. I have researched this area, and there are alot of scientific finding proving that "we" as autistic people, don't eliminate these toxins, which can end up hurting us.

What I think needs to be done about the vaccine situation, if it can be... is SLOW DOWN.. wait and see if the child has Autism, is they do... then vaccinate VERY carefully.

AmericanAsperger's, I like your reasoning. I too think the key is to slow down and evaluate carefully. Don't dismiss a bad reaction to an early vaccination as just "normal". If there's any kind of autism risk factor, do your homework and vaccinate carefully. My son and daughter in law have a 5 year old with autism. Both he and his younger brother (who doesn't have autism) have had all their vaccinations to date. However they are going to be having a baby in the fall and they're planning to evaluate the vaccination schedule very carefully before this one is born. Even though we don't really believe that my grandson's autism is vaccine linked, we feel it is foolish not to consider the possiblity and try to minimize any potential risk. My grandson is what you might describe as a "happy stimming" child with autism. His meltdowns are rare and generally over quickly. He doesn't have the gastrointestinal issues, nor does he appear to be in chronic pain. We're grateful for that. But since I have an adult cousin with autism and I'm being evaluated for Asperger's myself, we can't rule out a genetic predisposition in my family that calls for greater caution. I don't think that's hysteria talking or fuzzy thinking, it's simple common sense and concern for what's best for the baby.

It's on the X chromosome. Can be diagnosed with a simple medical test. It is not a neurological disorder, it is a degenerative medical disorder. Rett's disorder is 100% GENETIC
