Digital/Internet abuse by parents of ASD children
I was about to say something similar. What I have noticed is that although some of my kiddo's friends are bullied, the majority who are bullied in school are ALSO bullied at home by their parents, of course, their parents don't see it as bullying. I have now made the decision to stay away from such parents, as a few have started to bully my son. That's where it all went crazy for me...they can all take a hike. My son is an incredibly fun, sweet kid with great self-esteem and I'll be dam#$%ed if the parent of another autistic kiddo will bully him.
This is really upsetting. I am glad you are there to step in and defend him.
I can see how the exploitation and abuse of their own kids online is a kind of natural product of the pro-narcissism, pro-exhibitionism culture of this era, with "Keeping up with the Kardashians" setting the standard--but bullying other people's kids as some kind of extension of bullying your own seems inexcusable.

I think what makes it much worse for me is the fact that one of the persons I know who does this the most is the president of the local autism group and is the "go to person" by most where I live and seen as the autism expert, the one attempting to help our kids, etc. Therefore, those parents who go searching for help eventually start thinking this is appropriate behavior since she is the expert. Sick to my stomach.
