Police have formally identified a body found in the Yarra river as that of missing 14-year-old Felix Hua.

Felix's body was found by Police Search and Rescue at 11.30am (AEST) on Tuesday about 200 metres north of Dight Falls in Melbourne's inner east.

The autistic teenager had been missing since Saturday morning when he was on a regular outing to Yarra Bend Park in Fairfield, run by Southern Cross Care Victoria.

He was being looked after by his carer when he went missing.

Police had spent recent days searching the area around Deep Rock Road down to the Kew boathouse, in Melbourne's inner east.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
