Anyone up for an event where Aspies and Enties intemingle, so they can get over their fear of each other? It's just an idea I've had, but I don't know where to go from here.

Sorry to be slightly off-topic, but what's a "Entie"?

Entie was the old version of Windows designed specifically for businesses in the early-mid ninties, and was the most recent version up until Windows 2k. This version still forms a base of the Windows operating system, though it has been modified significantly. The most popular, and longest lasting version (still used today for some things) was known as EntieFor. Some areas still have user groups for this operating system, I suggest the ohpee search for an entieyougee in his/her area.

So, to get back on topic, what do you think of the idea?

Don't aspies and NTs already intermingle on a daily basis? High school, college, the workplace...I can think of countless examples.

Yeah, but none of those events exist for the express purpose of learning to understand each other. I know there are organizations that deal with learning to understand people from other races/cultures; why not autism (and for that matter, why not other cognitive/mental/neurological disabilities)?

Well, maybe we can extend it to other 'disorders' after the first event has been tried with Autism

I don't know where to go with this idea, now that I've come up with it.

Its a good idea I think. However I sort of picture a bad high school dance. Over half the crowd will be sitting on the sidelines. Some will be joking in the corner. Very few will be brave enough to "dance".

It may work if it had more focus though. I am wondering though why many people would do it just because its Aspie/NT. I would go to meet people, not really caring about if they were Aspie or not (excluding crazy killer types)

I was thinking of some way that they can be helped to understand each other. Maybe a Q&A section involving 'Ask an Aspie' and 'Ask an Entie', so we might gain an understanding of why they do (apparently stupid) rituals?

Autreat has an 'Ask an NT' Q&A session every year. How will the session you are suggesting differ from the session that already happens at Autreat?

That would just be one part of it. From what I gather, the purpose of Autreat *isn't* to educate people about the fact that there exists mind which think as well as you do, but differently.

It is an intriguing idea. I'm not entirely sure what would be the best way to implement it. It could easily misfire. But it could also build bridges. Maybe implementing it in places where AS/NT already intermingle the most like at Comicon (did I spell that right?, the comics convention).
