I have a few questions reagarding these eugenistics:

First,do they have legal power to do this?If they ever discover a cure, could they force us to take it.Could they castrate us by force or send us to an asylum because were Aspies?

Second,if they are trying to eliminate autism and they treat us like second-class citizens, why don't the law act against them or classify them as an "hate group"?

Third, they are giving a false and bad image of autism, shouldn't this be illegal?

Fourth, could they spread to other countries?(I hope they never get in Canada bwcause it's were I live...)

Fifth, why is curring autism or AS so bad?Personnaly I wouldn't like to get cured, but maybe there are some Aspies out there who suffer and hate their condition abd want to get cured?

Sixth, what action could we take against them?I mean some REAL action, not just posting stuff like " Autism speak suck"

Seventh, how could a cure be develloped against autism if it isn't a disease?

Eight, why the governement doesn't declare that autism ISN'T a disease and the autistic actually form a distinct minoroty? This would legally protect us from Autism Speak eugenic(Nazis?) freaks...

I'm not sure how Autism Speaks gets away with it. It has a lot to do with money, politics and power over reason, logic and ethics.

I keep looking at this thread to see if anyone knows the answers to the OP questions. Like you Whitetiger, I don't know how they get away with it. I kept thinking about this thought this morning:

If they want to cure autism because of autism's challenges, then why not cure NT's as well---they have challenges too. It's like they are trying to create what they think is the perfect race.

No meds for me.

1 Probably not, it would be considered unethical by a lot of ppl.
2 They have a lot of money ( = power ). And a lot of ppl not on the spectrum don't see them as hate group.
3 It's probably part of free speech, but I'm not sure.
4 They already have, but they have change their name in some countries.
5 I doubt whether it can really be 'cured'. Most ppl here see their autism/AS as part of their identity and therefore don't like the curing idea. Further more, ppl dislike it because of the implied idea that autisms is a disease that needs to be cured.
6 I really don't have an answer for this one.
7 Nor have I one here, but it probably has to do something with suppressing the symptoms or rewiring the brain.
8 Probably the work it would need, and there is not much attention for it. Secondly Autism speaks (or some other organisation) would probably lobby enough to stop any attempt. There is also a lot of misunderstanding about autism/AS. And the last reason, that I can think of at the moment, is that it is too close to a disease from ppl's view.

If you have enough money, you can get away with anything you bloody well please. Neo-Nazis are not excluded from this rule, evidently.

OK I'm new to all this.

Someone simplify what they are about down to a few bullet points.

Then tell me why it is a threat.

*They spend very little money on helping autistics.
*They demonize autism, call it an "epidemic"(We're not diseased/)
*They make PSA's that make us look scary instead of encouraging understanding.
*They do not let autistics speak at conferences.
*They profess to speak for us when we do not agree with their message.

Ok :

Primarily:

are we saying this because we need a bogeyman to scare us into consolidation

or

are they a genuine threat to our current and continued existence ?

They are a genuine threat in all ways that Whitetiger says. And it appears they want fetal testing so that autistic fetuses (and others like Down's Syndrome) can be aborted.

For me Autism speaks has been helpful with figuring out what therapies to try with my son. For example the speech therapy which has been helpful because now he's talking better and the ABA therapy to catch him up so he doesn't have to be in remedial classes.

The biomedical therapies(which both my son and I do. It would not be ethical to do it only to him and not on me as well have only helped us feel better) He no longer poops 12 times a day but 1-2 times a day and tells me his tummy feels good and I no longer have rashes and intestinal bleeding. Diet and vitamins have helped both my son and I but he still has issues and I still do too.

I think the painful GI symptoms(which both my son and I endured and that make our symptoms worse it would be nice to eliminate) As for making people take a "treatment" I think it's something that should be a choice for adults and that parents should be allowed to choose for their kids. I am choosing to go through the biomedical treatments not b/c I hate my AS but because I hate my GI symptoms and being sick all the time. I love that I think differently and see problems and solutions differently. I hate that I feel sick and tired all the time. With me sick less I'm going to be able to pursue my new interests without getting sick 2-4 times a month. I'm about 1 year into treatment and my stomach issues are gone.

Hate to tell you this but they are already in Canada.
