I have a group like that near me, it's nice, I have some friends there

Well we could change it to those with nuro. conditions. Your lucky in the area I am in I have yet to meet another person on the spectrum.
I've met a lot of kids and teens on the spectrum, but only 1-2 other adults. I think what makes it difficult is that we don't LOOK any different from anyone else...and for people my age (late twenties to early thirties), a lot of us were never diagnosed. So, even if I bring it up, most people my age have never HEARD of Asperger's unless they have a child on the spectrum.
I met one guy once, in passing, and just ended up thinking he was "weird" because I had spent so much time working on how (neuro)typical people act/communicate. He did everything "wrong" and it just frustrated me! I realized several days later what was going on. It just makes me all the more thankful for my friends and partner who put up with me and my weird tangents and poorly controlled talking volumes, among other things.
Also...I am really shy. If someone starts talking to me, I generally don't open right up. It's possible there are a lot more people near you than you realize.
Getting back to your original thought...I do not think I would like living in an "ethnic ghetto" of people on the spectrum. Stuff like that has a funny way of backfiring. It takes all kinds, and I think we work best together, not apart.
