WDUQ, the local NPR (that's National Public Radio for those of you outside the US) affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been running a pretty interesting and well-researched series of pieces on autism. You can listen to it as a podcast at:

They've interviewed people from across the spectrum, from persons unable to function without assistance to high-functioning individuals with jobs and relationships. They've also talked to family members, educators, and researchers. Some people here might take issue with the viewpoints of some of the researchers (I did, for what it's worth), but they generally try to be fair and responsible in terms of presenting differing viewpoints, and they definitely seem to go a good job in letting autistic people speak for themselves in many of the pieces. I liked that they didn't just focus on infants and children, but devoted several pieces to adults, including those who are diagnosed later in life.
