I'm curious; why is it that NT's say that we appear to be immune to pain? I know for a fact I'm not (then again, I'm just one person on the spectrum). Plus, I know that some people on the spectrum don't really "show" behaviours that are "typical", so I'm hoping no one will bash me with that answer.
And yet, NT's are the ones with dull senses. Here, I'll show you:

On nice days in the summer, my NT sister and I would walk around outside barefoot. I would be wincing while stepping on the old driveway of ours (it's full of sharp, pointy rocks!), and yet she would be walking across as if it were grass.

Well, what do you think?

In my case it seems pain gets to "overload threshold" in affected area quite quickly, which I'm used to, so while I am sensitive to light stimuli, strong doesn't affect me too much. I would not feel very different feeling from pinching hard my forearm or stabbing fork in it...

On the other side, I can't stand tooth drill.

Discomfort bothers me more than pain. Walking across unfinished wood, like the boards of a deck, drives me crazy, but I can haul tubas around despite the pain in my shoulders from damaged tendons and nerves I got doing just that.
