autism societies just for looks?

I have gone to five autism societies in my state(Some were so far it turned into an over night) and all of them had one thing in common. Lot of money and no help. None of them could offer me any help to find a job or get government financial aid or anything at all. If I had a kid whom had autism they could find me a baby sitter or give me names of schools that will work with autistic kids. They also told me about a pizza place that works great with autistic kids (but sorry.They cant hire me due to their charity working with them and favoritism) So where should adults with autism go? Who can help us? Should these pleaces be called autism societies when they dont do anything that can help?

Perhaps write to them suggesting that they indicate that they just help children and have no services for adults, explaining that it would prevent other adults on the Spectrum from wasting time and money visiting them. Perhaps then things would change a little. They do seem to be helpful for parents.

Perhaps they don't realise that they weren't clear that they were there to help parents? I don't know, I don't know anything about them, I'm just thinking it's possible that they don't know the waste of time and resources they were to you.

If you're over eighteen, there is no help. Autism advocacy groups exist only to help children. There is no Federal or grant funding available for adults with Autism, so nobody cares about us. Money makes the world go round, friend, and if there's none to be had for helping, nobody has the time of day for you.

If you're in the US, there are state agencies that help the generally disabled to find jobs or train for careers and they get funding from the Federal Government. You only need a formal diagnosis for a recognized disability to qualify (Autism, Social Anxiety, Chronic Depression, etc). In my state they call this agency Rehabilitation Services. I had heard the name for years and thought it was for addicts or ex cons because of the word 'rehabilitation' - nope, its for disabled folks.

They are no help at all. I did ask for help in training as well but it does not matter. if you are ASD have young have fun. there is no help when your old enought to need it.
