good book for writing ideas

Hi,

I am developing a video story series about several teenage and young adult characters with autism spectrum disorders.

One of the main characters I am developing is a young woman (maybe late 20s/early 30s), has Asperger's Syndrome or high-functioning autism, and has epilepsy/seizures. She would work or volunteer in some part of the medical field.

I am wondering if there are any good books for young adults about young women like the character or situation I described above. I am not looking for anything dark and depressing, but preferably with a generally "light" tone. I couldn't find much on LibraryThing; one book I looked through (Electricity by Ray Robinson), about a thirty-year-old woman with epilepsy, sounded too dark and depressing.

That is pretty specific. The old adage of "write what you know" may be relevant here.

What do you mean?

I guess I could do research on epilepsy and autism and develop a character and a story, correct?

My goal is to not just create characters based on myself, but also create other wholly fictional characters with their own personalities and traits, to make it more interesting. The challenge is creating a believable character with an interesting storyline and getting my facts straight.
