my post is not about the politics or morality of abortion.however there is a lot of talk on this political forum on the subject.my first question is that most people believe in afterbirth causations of autism, vacines, mercury and even time between pregnancy's.it may be true that autism starts before birth and i personaly agree with that, but that has not yet been proven yet.so why are so many so concerned about abortion if there is no way to detect it in the womb.if there was a way, all the vacine and other theory's would have been disproven long ago.so are autistics at risk of abortion and can it be found in prenatal testing

At this time there is not a prenatal test for autism. There is ongoing research for genetic and developmental causes of Autism. Some are concerned that a prenatal test may be developed sometime in the future and results from the test may influence a woman's choice for abortion. Some are behind the research for genetic and developmental causes of Autism because they hope the research leads to better interventional treatments, and possibly a cure.

In my opinion the condtion of Autism is extremely complex with a myriad of genetic, developmental, and environmental factors that may be at play. I don't see the likelyhood of a prenatal test within the next ten years and a cure for existing cases of autism seems unlikely, but who knows what the distant future may hold .

Many people are worried about prenatal autism screening because many people also believe autism to be genetic.
