I made this video to explain why I oppose the proposed addition of "wandering" as a diagnostic classification for autism. Please watch, and, more importantly, please sign the petition here:

You got to be really careful. I consult with professionals in the field and they are nice folks. Many organizations for community integration won't even accept those with this type of classification due to risk management. If you can't help a person be safe then how can they be included? It's a tough subject.

I'm sorry I can't sign the petition as I am not confident that those signing it or authoring it have enough specific experience. Although I am worried about how it could be abused. Though to consider it abuse is wrong. The law would save lives but at what expense to freedom when overused?

I am glad you took the time out to make the video and explain theories on sensory overload and educational experiences.

This type of PR needs more professional construction and forethought.

I feel the same as Ci on this one. It's a very tough issue. I worry about freedom for the individuals, but at the same time I worry about the dangers they face. A couple years ago an autistic child (near where I live) left his home and wandered many miles away before being found. He had crossed numerous highways and probably railroad tracks.
