If you think for a moment the amount of money spent and the needs provided for compared to an existence in which if we lived in a society like in ancient Greece and Rome there is a big difference between now and then. I've never seen to much awareness that thanked people but I've seen only some awareness that makes demands. Considering that the economy and world affairs are as they are now still something exist rather then nothing and I think it's important to be thankful for that.

Rights and responsibilities put forth in the past by elected officials still are in many ways rather then none holding true. A bumpy road is ahead and while some people don't like to be in the position of having to depend on others or to have others realize this the internet is a way still to hide ones identity. You can thank your local Congressman, Senator, State elected officials and the president elect for what exist as of current by writing them an email. Meanwhile I strongly suggest movements that desire more to ask for less and establishments seeking budget loss prevention to include a thank you for the help so far.

In the South please, thank you, sir and mam can be very prominent. Showing respect encourages respect to be given. Needing help does not make someone less human but a thank you sure helps others realize how important their contributions thus far to others well beings have been so important.

Thank you for saying this. I will write my representative to say thank you for my son's MediCaid under the disability waiver program in California.

Not everyone can just up and create their own limo company...its cool you were able but some people still do need some of these government programs. They could be more effective but that probably is not going to happen.

Gratitude from the needy is precious because it is also rare. I usually get a herp-de-derp look and an "Is that all?" from someone that I've just bought a bag of groceries for. Occasionally, some mother will be driven to tears with gratitude, but that's happened only twice in the last three years. Most of the time, I'm just happy to see a family having a meal together as a family, even if it is at a shelter, and any expression of gratitude from them could not possibly make my happiness greater.

Which seems to be an opinion, a free-floating opinion with no attachment to fact. The only difference I see between you and mr. savant is that you have no self-belief and no self-respect.

Then she should solve them Fnord. She said she somehow couldn't escape depression and her proof was that she had it for many years. Well I did and length of time is not the same as intensity. So far she feels so unhappy but all she has done is fallen for a psychological trick.

Well, some people can, and some can't. While I think that self-diagnosis is meaningless without the confirmation of a licensed medical practitioner, the fear of that confirmation may hold some people back from getting the treatment they need.

I doubt that someone really needs to see a medical practitioner to actually solve their problems all the damned time. It's like someone with type 2 diabetes taking insulin: the fact is that the best treatment involves you changing your lifestyle, outlook etc. not seeing your doctor.

If I believed half of the crap that people say about people with asperger's I am sure I would be in a terrible state. Since I take what they say with a huge pile of salt I am doing a lot better.

As for how this relates to sweetleaf, I feel that she doesn't need to be fatalist and furthermore she has no right to make contrivances about who and who cannot do something when the separation between her and Autismsavant in the job department at least is a case of willpower and self-belief, not anything ingrained in to their genetics or brain structure. So what she might not have her own business if she does as I think: she would get somewhere.

Well, that's her choice, now isn't it?

While I agree with you in principle, it is damned difficult - if not unethical - to try to change others against their will. They have to want the change.

I am not going to force her to do anything. I can be annoyed though and point it out, which are the only things I intended to do.

There is also the fact that some people actually enjoy the attention they receive - good or bad - whenever they get all emo about whatever is bothering them.

I know that I used to do just that, and then I grew up and took charge of my life, for better or worse...

I think it would be helpful to make taking charge of yourself as one of us a much more apparently pleasurable exercise.
