a reasonable solution to autism speaks vs autistics conflict

i think autism speaks should be made to apologize for the pre natal scanning project, misspending money, and offensive media campaigns. the apology should take the form of an ad campaign showing america how autistic people can be an asset in society and the workplace. autism speak's leadership should be replaced with autistic people so no mistakes are made in the future. asan should be told to back off and correct their aggressive stance if autism speaks does change.

not a bad idea.i dont think autism speaks is intentionaly trying to mis portray anyone.i would call autism speaks a parental franternaty.mostly i ignore them.but yea i agree

I think Autism Speaks is envious of autistics because we produce the smartest geniuses so they bash us and humiliate us by comparing us to low functioning autistics.

the lower functionings are smart,they just cant express it in verbal language because of sensory overload.there own genius is an untapped recource

Yes if these neurotypicals would invest more money in commujnication device research instead of holding autistics back by insisting that they use only Picture Pecs.

It's like these special ed teachers go to school to learn how to deny services for autistics. And special ed teachers have nothing but contempt for the intelligence of an autistic person. One special ed teacher bragged that shw would never waste her time trying to teach an autistic person mathematical concepts because in her mind all an autistic can handle is rote learning.

If I was you I'd think more before I'd post rubbish like that. Aside from failing Occams Razor or any semblance of logical thinking you also manage to insult low functioning Autistic people.

thats only 2 levels of complexity. with a causal loop diagram thats an average probability rate of 25%. not bad for a fairly plausible idea.

That's nice but it still feels like it only considers parent's interests. No insult of course it just doesn't make me feel like that they're trying to make their children greater, it just feels like they're trying to make their children approachable, which is the great failure of parent-child relationships. The way it is, tension about your child being weird can lead to your child not becoming greater. I have seen this in my meetings.

I support the hacking autism thing. my only annoyance is why they had to call it "hacking" i mean a lot of people get insulted by nothing and i don't want to sound like those people. the name makes me a little nervous because it sounds like they are breaking into someones mind illegally, like hacking a computer. why does autism speaks have to dub their perfectly legitimate projects with a name like that. it just taints the whole thing. the thing that they have to realize is that i judge them critically because of their track record. if an organization without the same record were to do the exact same thing it wouldn't cross my mind ton criticize it.

ok, gedrene in case you missed the announcement i'm no longer the crazy supremacist type. I didn't mention the idea that autistics were all geniuses. in fact the original poster only said some autistics were. but, political differences aside i think we can agree that services are good and getting picked on by big organizations is bad.

i do think autistic are mega talented.aspie48's idea' are a little off the wall but i see briliance behind them.he is for a person his age very smart.being a little off the wall when your young is a mark of genius.your pretty smart yourself and i imagine you have many talents.clever nickname mr edirne or hadrianappolis.unless you live in serbia or bulgaria on the turkish border.but if i remember your english.i cant compete with you ci or aghogday on political advocacy.but i have other talents.i must say i do some complex stuff with music actualy.on your last comment,where are we sapposed to go to find the talented.im not trying to be hostile and i hope i dont come accross that way.i just wanted you to clarify your post.

It's interesting that you bring that up. It's a metaphor, you see it as a literal statement. They want to hack into your mind, because that what hacking autism literally means.

The folks that created it like metaphors, and see it as a catchy phrase, that people will remember. They have no idea, that some people will take it literally like that, but they should consider this kind of stuff, because it is a recognized fact that it is part of autism.

The governments "combating autism act". When you hear that do you feel like they are trying to destroy you in a battle. They geniunely want to help autistic children. Use it as a catchy phrase, but some autistic people naturally take offense at it because many take it as a literal statement.

This stuff really affects people disturbs and/or makes them nervous. That's not good when other language that's catchy could be used without the same potential impact on autistic individuals.

No they don't want to hack into your mind they want to make it easier for autistic people with communication problems to communicate with others and keep organized through handheld devices. Your point is real, and a true concern though.
