I have heard there are two mainstream schools of thought in france, and one is scientific and the other is Freudian.

Didn't catch the video, so I'm kind of commenting blind.

It's sort of disturbing that the whole "refrigerator mothers" thing ever came up, even though I can understand how it might have been an idea back when no one really knew what caused autism. The idea that there's a part of the world where that sort of pseudoscience still has any sway is disturbing, especially if it's in a modern western European nation...ugh.
