Educating Essex at 9pm on channel 4

from the Radio Times:

Ryan is 15 and has Asperger's. He's a bit concerned about attending his first ever prom, held to mark the end of their school lives for year 11 pupils at Passmores Academy in Essex. "I don't know if a girl would like me or not," he wonders aloud, before asking the film crew, individually: "What would you do?" The crew think he should go. It's a lovely moment so typical of this brilliant, exemplary, fly-on-the-classroom-wall documentary series. Ryan is smashing; happy, keen, funny, clever and devoted to headmaster Mr Goddard. "He absolutely adores him," saysa Ryan's proud mum during one of his routine sessions with his educational support team.

I won't be watching this, it sounds like I can't relate to this kid at all. I hated all my teachers at school, and there would be more chance of the sky falling down than me attending a prom. These types of events stink of conformity and social ritual, and everything that I don't like.

At first glance, this show sounds like a total load of crap and a mis-representation of Aspergers, meant to evoke a "ahhh, isn't he cute, look at his social awkwardness" type of response to make entertaining television.

I may be wrong, I have jumped to wrong conclusions before, but this is how it comes across in the description.
