A satirical news website (glossynews.com) posted a fake story about Florida Governor Rick Scott stating that he had resigned as Governor due to a leaked diagnosis of Asperger syndrome. It took me a while to realize this was a fake as I hadn't ever seen the website before today, but it does appear to be entirely baseless.

I know I don't have a typical sense of humor, but I take it a bit personally that the article seems to insinuate that someone diagnosed with Asperger syndrome should automatically be ineligible to be Governor of Florida. It is also a bit frustrating that these folks seem to think it is okay to make fun of Asperger syndrome in the process. It certainly won't foster acceptance. Does anyone else find this more than a bit annoying?

Here is a link to the fake story:

Making fun of Rick Scott perfectly ok but AS not cool!
I like the cartoons the (UF) Alligator makes of Rick Scott my favorites have to be
when albert the alligator eats Scott and the other when he comments how much better the
Georgia bulldog mascot looks so much better than Scott. :D

To be honest, a politician with AS would probably make an effort to hide it. Any sort of "disorder" is frowned upon amongst politicians, and they would likely pull the "unfit to lead" card.

I also don't think that most people with Asperger's are sociopathic enough for politics. [Most. I'm sure there's a few overlapping Aspie Sociopaths in the political world.]

If people with Aspergers are unable to take a joke, then they should avoid running for office.
