We need to have uniformity within the autistic community.
Ari Ne'eman is already ASAN's president. Therefore, we would benefit if all autistic leaders would become presidents of their respective organisations.
So here is a question to Alex Plank, leader of WP: Alex, would you agree to become WP's president?

(I will also ask Jim Sinclair to become ANI's president, Gareth Nelson to become AFF's president and Dr. Roderick Cobley to become LARM's president).

Thank you,
Chen Gershuni (aka KenG)

Yeah the Admin or Webmaster could work for Alex as well.

I am wondering if perhaps he means "solidarity"?

I don't understand the need for the webmaster to call himself the "president" though. KenG, can you explain?

Autism Speaks does not speak for the ASD community. When was their a vote by the people they claim to represent?

I think Ken G is onto a good idea. The ASD community needs to have people who represent their views, not people who claim to represent their view.

I think the fact that Alex has 17 058 members shows that he doesn speak for the ASD community!

Well Alex might not like the title president anyway.

Administrator has been his name for the whole time and I like that title better than president.

Not to denigrate anybody here, but I want nobody speaking on my behalf. I speak for myself. Period.

You got a point there. Let Alex decide this concept if he likes president or something better.

No offense, but "owner" does not necessarily equal "president": they can be two very different positions with different types of responsibilities.

In the case of autism advocacy, the president of WP would need to be very involved in that, and frankly alex sounds busy already. If he weren't opposed to the idea, then he might appoint someone else to take care of the presidential responsibilities associated with autism advocacy.

Running this site and then attempting to run and network the advocacy aspects are two very different things.

What kind of responsibilities would Alex Plank have as WP President that he already doesn't have as the administrator of WP?

I don't think you can have uniformity within the autism community. Assuming Alex is the official spokesperson for Wrong Planet it would be quite impossible for him or anyone to have total agreement on a specific issue.

How about people for example who have dual membership (a member of more than one Autism website)? If WP for example took position A on a topic and AFF took position B on that same topic would either one of those organizations by itself be fairly representing this subgroup of people? Would dual membership be seen as a conflict of interest?

Of course not. Therefore, whenever Alex speaks to journalists, he should invite Ari and Gareth to join him.
If we do that, the journalists will have a more complete picture of the autistic community: they will know what we do agree upon and what we do not agree upon. It would allow them to paint a better picture of the autistic community.
