"Former supermodel Paula Hamilton, 51, faces drink driving charge after crashing into neighbour's conservatory.

The brunette, who said she has Asperger’s syndrome, was bitten by a police dog in the aftermath of the horrific crash.

However, she claimed police laughed and watched the mutt 'maul' her as she lay curled helplessly in a ball, an instinctive reaction of Asperger’s sufferers in panicked situations":

It was probably not cool for them to sick dogs on her but I can not say for sure because I do not know the details. A part of me thinks she deserves it for being so inconsiderate.

Nowhere does the article mention that she is apologetic but this could just be the authors trying to make her look worse. She should be very sorry for endangering other people and destroying the old man's property.

I don't care if she's Autistic though. That is besides the point here, she was under the influence of something and driving. Getting a little roughened up is a small price to pay for driving drunk. Hopefully she has learned her lesson.

The "Daily Fail" as many people know that newspaper over there in UK, is famous for over-sensationalized style of journalism to grab the headlines.

Apparently she was an actress on UK TV adverts for Volkswagen during the 80s.
During the 80's their slogan was "if only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen".

How ironic.

^It should be noted that the alledged incident happened in the United Kingom. I'm not sure how the US education system is relevant to the OP.

It sounds like she is taking responsibility for her drinking and driving but she had a problem with the officers laughing at her. I wonder how her AS made her curl up in a ball.

Oh dear, really?

Did Aspergers make her run and hide after the crash too?

I don't think the police officers should let their own police dog attack a person other than a case of self-defense or defense of another person.

It is not the job of the police to dole out punishment.

Statements like this make my blood boil.

It was an accident. Do you really think she did it on purpose?
Secondly, the justice system will dole out said punishment, not the police, and not you, or anybody else.

And I think we allow this incident, in a positive and straightforward way, to become part of the conversation about Spectrum Rights. For example, just something like, "Hey, people on the spectrum make mistakes just like anyone else."

And we can also talk about how hard it is to call a damn cab. For example, sometimes the bar does you no favor at all and will actually tow your car if left in the parking lot.

The only example drawn from this is how not to deal with life's problems.

She crashed her car into someone's house, obviously was not wearing her seatbelt and left the scene of an accident.
The police in the UK often use a dog to find someone in this situation. She claims the dog mauled her but has not been able to show any evidence.

I have sympathy for her but she is ultimately responsible for this situation.

DUI is stupid no matter what you've got.

Black-and-white statement: DUI is stupid. Under any circumstances.

I would hate to get chewed up by a dog, but DUI is dumb.

My sympathy is limited.
