Me too on the original series and loving the theme song. I just can't get into the remake, the new characters, plus I totally have no use for the "action-adventure" genre. So I part-way watched the new Hawaii 5-0 a couple of times and concluded it is not for me.
Nice observation about the autistic character though.
There was an autistic person at the swimming pool last time I went. He took forever getting into the water, flapping his hands all the way. Then he just came over to my lane without a word. So I asked him if he wanted to share my swim lane - that's the usual practice where I swim - and he said yes. So I smiled and nodded my head and swam on down my half of the lane. I have to admit, I wished he wasn't there. I like the luxury of a whole lane so you don't bump into the walls or the other swimmer. And his hand-flapping irritated me just on account of the motions catching my attention. (For me, the weekly swim is supposed to be part exercise, part meditation.) But overall, it wasn't too bad an experience. Once he was swimming, he wasn't flapping any more, and he wasn't a heavy splasher.
This has nothing to do with Hawaii 5-0. Just recounting an autism encounter I had. How do I know he was autistic? OK, I don't, but (a) I wasn't diagnosing him and (b) it seemed probable.
