Christie on Drug Addiction, Caucus Accessibility & Autism

Quote:
We have to get out of the mindset that folks who are on the Autism spectrum can’t work. They absolutely can work. There are lots of jobs out there that they can do and do very well and feel fulfilled by doing everyday

Quote:
No one based upon a disability should be prevented from voting if they want to exercise their franchise,” the presidential hopeful said. “If you can’t go to that [assigned caucus] place, they should work on another ability for you to be able to access, for you to be able to participate, either by moving the location or by giving you an opportunity by remote access to be able to participate and be able to cast your vote.”

Christie suggested using things like Skype and Facetime

Wait wait wait, is a right wing candidate endorsing the rights of the disabled? What madness is this!?

Okay but minus the sarcasm, I'm glad somebody is sticking up for us, I might vote for Christie if he had any chance to win the nomination.

I'd rather have Christie than Trump any day!

Even with Bridgegate.

Always beware of any politician saying people with disabilities can "do things" - this usually means that any consideration for their disability is about to be removed...

Even if he was a Democrat, Chris Christie would still be a liar nonetheless. :x

To be fair, New Jerseyans almost make a sport out of hating their leaders. Christie may not be the best there is, but he has done a substantial amount of good in NJ. Do we have a lot more than needs fixing? Yes! It's NJ! Corruption capital of the world. Seriously. But we are no longer in danger of the state offices and parks being closed indefinitely as they were when he was elected. People may hate a lot of the legislation that he enacted, and may want to talk about how much he spends and how bad his budget and whatnot is, but many of them either don't remember, or didn't know about how bad it was several years ago.

Speak for yourself. I have Asperger's and I worked my way up from Airman to Major. Decorated 3 times - once for valor. Had a great career. We can do things. The catch is that like anything else, we have to want to do them.

Aside from Chris Christie killing that guy from his bridge closing shenanigans, I kind of like him. But I would not have expected him to be pro-autistic people. He must know some people on the spectrum personally.
