My name is Michael Weiss. This is my first time posting. I am 35 years old, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, I work in IT, I have Asperger's, and I am running to represent Nevada's 3rd Congressional District.
My campaign is centered on economic, social, and environmental justice. My platform is heavily inspired by Bernie Sanders and includes the establishment of a living wage, tuition free higher education, restoring net neutrality, and establishing a single payer health care system. Despite the "novelty" of my candidacy, I haven't gotten much attention from the mainstream media. However, I was interviewed by 8 News Now at a barbecue hosted by the People's Autism Foundation. One of the major themes of my campaign has been to provide a voice for those who have been left out of our political process, or treated negatively by it. I am hopeful that, win or lose, my campaign will inspire individuals like myself to run for public office and that it will help combat negative stereotypes that many people in our country have about autism.
I am running a 100% grassroots campaign relying solely on donations, taking no money from corporations or special interests. I want to make clear that I did NOT come onto this site to ask for money. While any contribution is, of course, appreciated, I'm more interested in getting the word out about me and my campaign.
