Wrong Planet and Autism Speaks

I heard that Wrongplanet was created by Autism Speaks. That was really surprising because I knew that Wrong Planet is pro-autism while Autism Speaks is anti-autism (as exemplified by this Autism Speaks video, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UgLnWJFGHQ ) So can you clarify the situation?

That is 100% false and is likely from an old April Fools post; do not believe anything regarding Autism Speaks says or does as they're fanatical asshats regarding anyone on the Spectrum

I would be surprised if this is true. If it is it's a case of the child growing up to hate it's parent Hopefully if those of us who know nothing comment this post will remain high enough that someone who does know will see it and give us the answer.

That's not true. Wrongplanet was created by Alex Planck and Dan Grover in 2004 who were then two teenagers, it had nothing to do with Autism Speaks. Although there was a time, a few years ago, when Alex collaborated with Autism Speaks to make his Autism TV videos on Youtube but otherwise this site really has nothing to do with Autism Speaks.

OP, where did you hear that complete falsehood?

Autism Speaks is often branded a hate group dedicated to the eugenic elimination of Autistic people on this site. That is not something that would happen on a website created by an organization designed to be a public relations website for said organization.

I am trying to search for it but have hard time finding it, so let me just summarize what it was that I read and I will give ou a link when I find one. So basically I was reading someone asking for an advise on what asperger message boards to join, and someone responded saying that the only message board that they would recommend is "aspie central" because its very pro-autism and blah blah blah, but then they said that they would not recommend joining wrongplanet because a) it was affiliated with autism speaks b) some bad things about alex and the mods not doing their job properly c) the members here are snotty. Anyway like I said I can't seem to find that link at the moment but I will post it once I see it.

They probably said that about Alex/WP simply because he participated in a single event in collaboration them (Autism Speaks) a couple years or so back and tried to spin it that He's a bad guy; not uncommon; saw it first hand w/ a former Boss of mine regarding another Business owner
