Medicaid & ASD concerns?

Hi everyone!

I'm considering applying for Medicaid (or Medi-Cal, as it is here in California) for a spinal injury. And I don't want to take medication for my back, due to a history of side-effects.

I'm concerned about going on a government health care system, because I've been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. I'm not a violent or suicidal person, but I worry about conservatorship (due to my aversion of medication.) So:

1) What has been your experiences with Medicaid/Cal, good or bad, whilst being on the autism spectrum?

2) Have you ever been worried about conservatorship?

(P.S. I will also be researching Covered California as an option, if anyone has any experience with that, too.)

Like the health system in general a lot of bureaucracy and all that entrails.
