CNN’s Anderson Cooper Compares Trump to Autistic ‘Rain Man’ Over Obsession With Hillary Clinton’s Emails

Quote:
“I just can’t imagine being Vladimir Putin and actually hearing the president of the United States go back to the well of Hillary Clinton‘s server and the 30,000 e-mails and all this stuff,” Cooper said to colleague Dana Bash. “Which he’s been like Rain Man going back to time and time again for years now, but to hear him on the world stage doing that standing next to Vladimir Putin, I mean with all the research Putin has done, it’s got to have been a surreal moment for Vladimir Putin.”

He then repeated: “It’s like Rain Man, going back to this thing time after time.”

I find it very annoying when people think Trump is autistic. First of all, even if he was, only a professional could know, definitely not the media or general public. Second of all, comparing someone like Trump to autistic people gives the wrong impression of autistic people, since Trump is (at least in my opinion) a bigoted jerk. Also, he's an antivaxxer (source here: http://www.trumptwitterarchive.com/highlights/vaccines).

That's an insult to "Rainman" and real autistic people everywhere.

I wish I could remember the good threads that distinguish autism from narcissism to link here. Totally different things. It's not Rainman, and what an insult. It's like a bully that can't let go of a target because putting someone else down makes him feel better about himself.

That's quite correct, as many actual autistic people are ethical, law abiding citizens, not hyper egocentric dicator wannabees

Yes, I'd trust Rain Man. Not the other guy.

My mom low key tried to say that Trump was autistic and I didn't speak to her for a day because of that.
