Asperger's Documentary - Voices Needed!

Hi everyone!

My name's Eden, I'm a Documentary Journalism student and I'm putting together a radio documentary about Asperger's - specifically the mental health implications of it, the impact of masking and trying to keep up with NTs in social situations, that sort of thing. I really want to increase the representation by getting our voices out there, rather than by having an outside voice looking in, to give us the un-interrupted opportunity to explain our experiences and challenges as well as our values.

As well as one longer interview, I'm looking for as many people as possible to answer these three questions:

1. What has/have your experience(s) of burn-out been like?
2. If you could "cure" your Asperger's, what's one trait that you would keep?
3. What would you like others to understand about Asperger's in general, or about your specific experience of it?

The answers to these questions can just be sent over to me as voice recordings!

As for the longer interview, I'm trying to get a range of perspectives. I've already got some great interviews together, and what I think the documentary is missing is someone who has experienced backlash from telling others that they have Asperger's: this could be people treating you badly in a way that they didn't before your diagnosis; it could be people refusing to believe you, either thinking the doctor is mistaken or that you're seeking attention; it could be positive discrimination, such as a workplace putting in excessive support due to assuming you're far less capable than you are. I think it's important for the documentary to capture the fact that some people face risking a decline in mental health and quality-of-life when disclosing their diagnosis to others, so if anyone is interested, please do let me know.
