One womans campaign in France's municipal elections.

Arras France,Eleonore Laloux has battled her whole life to be treated like others,now the 34 year old is waging a new campaign,to be the first person with Down syndrome to win a local municipal election in France.

Armed with a broad smile and gritty determination,Laloux is canvassing for support in her hometown in northern France,talking about a cleaner town and improved access for the disabled and a fairer society.

With less than two weeks until the election Laloux is making headway in persuading townsfolk that she is a deserving candidate.

Good for her!

Down Syndrome is also a spectrum in that levels of disability vary between individuals. Some are very "high functioning."

There is also a mosaic Down Syndrome in which different cells may or may not have trisomy 21 variation.

Glad you enjoyed the article,also being a neurodivergent condition it's to bad WP doesn't attract any DS members or posters.

Are there any elected officials anywhere in the world who have DS?

One of the articles says someone with Down Syndrome has served in Parliment in the UK. Any of our UK posters know about this?

A person with Down Syndrome ran for the Peruvian parliament in 2019. It might be for a future election.

I'm not English but I did some google searches and found no indication of there ever being a MP with Down syndrome.A person with Down syndrome from Peru who ran for parliament did come up in a search.

A google search is no god card,internet searches often miss things.I have googled myself many times and other people who share my name come up but never me.
