As in the thread title.
Personally, I disagree with his ideas. I spoke to my biology teacher about male and female brains and she says that there are evolutionary differences (women generally are more empathetic) but they're small and not set in stone. My mum says the same.
Feel free to elaborate on your opinion in the thread.

Ah. I think you're talking about Sasha Baron-Cohen. I meant his cousin, the autism researcher...

I not really familiar with the works of Sasha Baron-Cohen. I know h'es a famous scientist. I'd like to know where he stands on the ability/or lack of ability of autistic people to be comedic and show a sense of humour though.

No no, Simon is the researcher. Sasha is the actor. Don't worry, it's confusing. Afraid I don't know what his opinion is on autistic humour.

I think where he messes up is when he concludes that autistic brains are extremely masculine overall because autistic people score more masculine on the empathy-systematization quotient. There have been studies with brain scans showing that autistic brains appear more androgynous on average, and transgender people are disproportionately autistic. Biological females with autism being more likely to identify as male would be expected on the extreme male brain theory but disproportionate autism in trans women would not be.

theprisoner is being sarcastic.

Ah, OK. Sorry, theprisoner. Your sarcasm was hard to spot.

But ...but..thats impossible. Being officially diagnosed with Asperger's means I'm socially awkward, cannot read or use body language or facial expressions well, have difficulty making eye contact, cannot understand sarcasm and jokes, tend to take things literally, may display socially inappropriate behavior without realizing it, have obsessive interests and may have problems with sensory issues.

Maybe you don't understand jokes neurotypicals make and have your own unique style of humour. That's what it's like for me, anyway.

....you are joking, right?

We're talking about the other Baron-Cohen. The cousin. The one who researches Autism... the boring one...

I have read a couple of his books and a number of his studies. I think the naming of his theory has was not well considered and is a distraction. Most of the criticism I have read misrepresents or reads too much into his idea and their significance. Whether those stand the test of time, well, we will have to wait and see.

I don't know anything about him, except for the male / female brain theory.

I don't know anything about Temple Grandin either.

Imagine!

I could care less.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just another name.
And the ideas from such name, are just another bunch of theories.

Theories that any layperson or even students of that domain can easily misread, misinterpreted and brag at large that they know about psychology, autism or 'woke'.
Or whatever the heck people likes to call themselves these days.

Just another topic to be subjected to interpretations and spread said interpretations around -- how damning or not it turns out, does not concern me.

I think he identified a subcategory of autistics.

Of course, wasn't it obvious? it was just something i had to get off my chest.

If you're anything like me then you will feel that fellow country man sasha cohen has contributed way more to the world than mr scientist. borat is hilarious. it's ridiculous how he gets away with it. the comedic balls on this guy. i dont care if hes not a analytical thinker or deep, forget about all that, hes a genius in his own right. Yeah, the boring one...that fits. It's an apt description. My whole personal taste is comedy >>>> science.

I'm not tryin to give anyone a hard time or anything. just having some fun.

Alright.

I think his name is Sacha Baron-Cohen, btw. He's a funny professional troll, although I've heard some negative things about him in recent times.

(Has anyone heard about him apparently racially profiling a Palestinian peace activist?)
