This is an advertisement that ran in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia to coincide with International Asperger's Day.

Stephanie Evans from the Asperger's Services Australia kindly e-mailed me this ad to use during my talk at work.

wow! that is a great commercial.
I did notice one very (to me) glaring non sequitur. After talking about how fab the old AS guys were ( Einstein, Mozart) it says 'there is no cure'. Like someone would want to 'cure' Mozart.
that just struck me as odd/funny, is all.

I like the accent. Accent on Asperger's!

At any rate, The narrator might have said: There is NO need of a cure. There is a NEED to support Asperger's Creativity, so special Aspergian talents, which might be like those Einstein or Mozart demonstrated, may SHINE. :flower:

What a positive ad! I wish we had ones like that in the US.

Maybe they were abbreviating. When the ad said, 'There is no cure' this is short for:

'There is no cure so let's not waste time and energy speaking about such nonsense. Humanity needs Aspies. There is no cure, and we wouldn't even want a cure. Let's just get on with acceptance and giving the right support.'

Stephanie Evans started the Queensland branch of Asperger's Services Australia. She has a 21 year old son with Asperger's. Stephanie started the association when her son was 4.

She works full-time as a volunteer running this great community organisation.

We get regular newsletters which have positive articles. I've never seen nonsense about cure.

Whoops .... I'm ranting ... but I'll finish my rant .... how can anyone look at my beautiful, funny, intelligent, unique sons and think they need a cure???
