With these New Year Greetings we want to give you an update on a hectically 2008 in SPECIALISTERNE and address a very exiting new year.

2008 was a great year for SPECIALISTERNE with many opportunities to demonstrate the benefits of turning autistic characteristics into competitive advantages in the business sector.

Among the highlights of 2008 we remember:

* A new strong management team with Mrs. Lisbeth Zornig Andersen as CEO and Mr. Niels Zibrandtsen as chairman of the board of directors.

* SPECIALISTERNE as theme in an article in MIT Innovations
* SPECIALISTERNE appointed by Monocle as one of the 10 most promising global brands to watch for in 2009
* The strong cooperation with the global companies LEGO and CSC.
* The assistance from Accenture in describing the process model of our company
* The many speeches in Denmark and internationally (India, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, UK (live recording), USA) – always with a great response from the audience.
* The appearances in the news media (Denmark, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, UK)
* The appearances in the documentaries: Specialisterne (Danish documentary) and The Sunshine Boy (international documentary) – both launched in 2009

Specialist People Foundation

With assistance from the LEGO Foundation, the founder of SPECIALISTERNE, Thorkil Sonne, has founded the not-for-profit Specialist People Foundation by giving SPECIALISTERNE and its holding company as an in-kind contribution as of December 15 2008.

The LEGO Foundation has chosen to support the development and deployment of labour market assessment for people with autism and to provide the opportunity to develop new knowledge, services and teachers instructions based on the LEGO MINDSTORMS robot technology. The development will include additional use of LEGO products and will be targeted the labour market assessment, special schools, youth educations and post educations.

The purpose of the foundation is to make the most out of the more than 5 years of operational know-how in SPECIALISTERNE of turning disabilities into special abilities. On top of the existing know-how we intent to create additional assessment, training and employment opportunities for people with autism and other specialist people facing other invisible disabilities in Denmark and on a global scale.

The long term ambition is to assist One Million Specialist People in being assessed, understood, supported and managed in an appropriate way and thereby create winning situations for specialist people, the business sector and communities on a global scale.

As managing director of the Specialist People Foundation, Thorkil Sonne will do his best to provide funding, form the strategy, establish the organization and initiate activities leading to fulfil the long term One Million Specialist People ambition.

Well, gosh. It's good to know that the aspies of Denmark may have this wonderful new resource devoted to enhancing their well being.

I've read through the website provided, though, and have been unable to find anything of use to me.

Am I overly disabled? Do you really not care?
