Noise TV is a music TV show on Channel 31 in Melbourne. They need editors and camera people and will provide some training. You will also be able to get screen credits for camera work so this is something you can use in a CV:

Note that the OP included the word "Volunteer," so don't expect to get paid.

Why do people keep looking for unpaid volunteers among Auties and Aspies?

mm channel 31 is a volunteer run, community type tv station. I think the manager and accountant get paid, but that's about all. Sometimes you get petrol money or free lunch. I used to work at 31 in Perth. It was ok, at least it was air conditioned in a hot climate. If you are using your own vehicle to do filming for them you should ask for petrol money.

A regular paycheck is helpful.
Getting free labor from people when they could be out finding a paying job is not helpful.

The word is "Exploitation".

Sorry Fnord this time you are barking up the wrong tree, channel 31 is a non profit voluntary community TV station, with very few paid positions. It exists to provide tv access for all kinds of community groups and fringe artists. I do get your point about exploitation but in this case it really is a good chance to get industry experience, and then hopefully a paying job with a larger station.

This is not exploitation, it's an opportunity to get your foot in the door and several media jobs like this take interns.

Even with the fashion industry, it starts off with internship. Working in recording studio as producer. Yeah not having money is a negative however what you do gain is experience, knowledge and something to put on a resume so you can find a job that pays so it is an investment.

This person clearly wants to help out those with autism.

from the blog-

Noise TVis a music TV show on Channel 31 in Melbourne. They produce music related programs</a> and also film and screen acts playing at Noise Bar in Brunswick where Donna And The Aspinauts are playing this February, Sunday the 8th.

Noise TV is run on a limited budget and is largely filmed and edited by volunteers who have gained experience in camera, sound and editing work at the TV station.

Noise TV need editors and camera people and will provide some training. You will also be able to get screen credits for camera work so this is something you can use in a CV. You can choose hours to suit yourself. Camera, sound and editing work are all techie occupations that can involve plenty of solitary space and don’t require well honed social skills. Significant experience in these areas of TV and film work may lead to employment or becoming a self employed contractor. Casual volunteering will also not interfere with any disability or unemployment benefit you are receiving.
If you are interested in this as work experience, contact the producer, Simon:

[email protected]

Simon has a number of people with Asperger’s involved with Channel 31 and I’m an interviewer on Visions which is another of the shows produced at Channel 31 (and I’ve taken a few Aspies along there as volunteers to gain experience and credits doing camera work). So you can expect a reasonably autism-friendly environment at channel 31.
Good Luck,

Donna Williams *)

It is a good idea. I am also thinking about using my own community station to get out the word on AS, (and about the autistic community!).
