I've never been able to "read" faces, so I don't even try. I vote on Position & Policy, not Pretty.

IMO Voting "Pretty" is peobably why the US is screwed up worse than a Highschool Popularity Contest...

Voters often make childlike choices based on appearance of candidates, Swiss researchers say

When it comes to electoral decisions, people like to think image isn't everything. But according to researchers in Switzerland, potential voters may be heavily biased by physical appearance from a young age.

Previous research had found that when adults were briefly shown pictures of two unfamiliar candidates and asked to pick which one they preferred, they chose the winning candidate more than 70 percent of the time. A new study, by economists John Antonakis and Olaf Dalgas from the University of Lausanne, extends that finding to children younger than 13, who selected the winning candidate based only on photographs at virtually the same rate.

The similarity suggests that from an early age people may make voting decisions based largely on appearance rather than on the issues, which disturbs Antonakis.

"People are lousy at really paying attention to facts and evidence and are totally biased by what I call the unthinking mind," he said. ...

That sounds very much like Fahrenheit 451, where Mildred says that the presidential election is already decided because of the appearance of the candidates and their names. (I hope I got the details right there; I last read the book months ago, and it's fuzzy.)
