http://www.lindtgoldbunny.com/

Every Lindt Easter bunny sold will give 10 cents to Autism Speaks. They have an email address on this site, plus you can write Lindt directly. I don't know which will be more effective.

I got the alert from here:
http://www.aspieweb.net/easter-chocolate-hurts-autistics/

Thanks to Zachary Lassiter (if that's who that is) for the heads up!

Ew. Do tell this isn't worldwide and only an US-thing so that I can ask my family to buy me an Lindt Bunny as every year. It would seriously disrupt my Easter routines to not get one.

That's so cool! Finally a non-charity company is helping people with autism. I hope this is in the UK as well as the US.

Autism speaks isn't as good as it sounds. I a'm afraid I dont know all the details but their membership is all NT and they trhreatened to sue a 14 year old autistic girl for making a website speaking out against the organization. Looks like Lindt got fooled too.

I think I'm about to barf. I don't want the taste of Autism speaks in my mouth when I enjoy my chocolate bunny, thank you very much. This should be protested. When they say Autism speaks, what they leave unfinished is the malicious "for itself" meaning it's an evil terrible thing.

I've thought of a good way to make Lindt know what people think about this. And that way is to boycott!

I think the most important thing is to tell them how we feel about it. And if you're going to boycott, make sure they know you are doing that and why.

I've been analyzing the Autism Speaks website and wrote a rant on my own website. They compare autism to leukemia, muscular dystrophy, AIDS, and juvenile diabetes, all conditions that deteriorate and can be fatal, and they complain that these other causes get more money. Instead they should compare autism to blindness and deafness, both stable lifelong conditions. I'm willing to bet that autism now is like blindness and deafness a hundred years ago (including the meltdowns).

Thing is, they're not interested in autism. They're a fund-raising machine, and that's what they do. If they weren't doing it for autism, they'd pick some other cause and do exactly the same thing. If you look at the bios of the leadership, fund raising seems to be a legitimate career path. Autism is just the cause du jour, and any tactics are fair game to get a bigger share of the funding pie. To heck with what autism actually is.

Wow. One of my doctor's sons had leukemia. My shrink's son has asperger's. I think if my shrink tried to tell my other doctor that their sons' conditions were anything alike, he'd probably get punched.

Time to bomb the bunny factory. They think "charity" and think they're doing good.

Then again, they're a damned chocolate company. They depend on slave labor to survive.

Freakin' hell, I'm getting SO fed up of greedy bloodsucking corporations making it SO HARD to shop ethically! Half the cosmetic and domestic products you buy are tested on animals, clothes are made by what is virtually slave labour (if not ACTUAL slave labour), food is filled with hidden animal by-products which as a vegetarian I try to avoid...and when they try the "Look how awesome and charitable we are" stunt, I have to check that the charity is ethical too! Many medical charities also abuse animals, a bunch of charities that are against THAT do other bad stuff (cough PETA cough), and then there's propaganda "charities" like Autism Speaks!

Summary: AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

Seriously?!?! What are they, $cientology or something?

On what grounds did they try and sue her, anyway? I'd have gone to court with them if I was her then I'd do a counter-suit for harassment or breach of free speech or something.

I think it was copyright infringement or something. I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same case, but the one I heard about was the girl who made a website with a name really similar to autism speaks and she was forced to shut it down.

Meh. Valrhona is way better chocolate anyway.

But seriously, while this is disappointing, I think most of the companies that sign on with Autism Speaks really do think they are doing a good thing. Autism Speaks wouldn't have the support it has if people really knew what it was about. Unfortunately, what speaks more than anything is money, and Autism Speaks has plenty of that....
