I am a sports idiot. I exercise, but I am not coordinated enough to do anything that counts as a sport.

i don't think biking, swimming, running, etc. need a whole lot of coordination.

i dropped down to lightweight for rowing and improved my erg (rowing machine) score over 2000m. my time was 7:40.9 last fall and my goal was to break 7min. I did it in 7:00.1 when we tested at the start of the summer, i know it's only 0.2sec off of my goal, but it's still disappointing. i'll be doing another test at the start of the fall season and i hope to break my PB by a few seconds because of all the rowing i've done this summer. i feel in much better shape, so i have high hopes for my next test.

luckily i randomly woke up in the middle of the night right around when they were on so i've been able to see a lot of them. they also show the highlights during the day here, but it's usually just the heats with canadians in them unless something big happened. the men's eight was an awesome race though, the bladework could be improved a bit (like i'm one to talk haha) but they were damned fast. also, LOL to the australian boat, that really sucks but it's kind of funny. at least that didn't put them out of the competition, they still go to the repechage, they just have to fix their fin.

oh, well their fin (pretty self explanatory, it's the thing on the bottom of the boat that's fin-shaped, the rudder is often incorporated into the fin) broke so they steered right into the Canadians' lane. the canadian coxie told the guys to kick up the power and they narrowly avoided them, as well as completely ditched their race plan, but it didn't hurt them too much, they won with open water.

For me in Remote Control Car Racing. I've had a great year so far.

Made the Podium in 3rd place at the United States Touring Championship in the biggest class at the race, the 13.5 motor class

Won the Two fastest classes, GT1 and GT2, at the Milwaukee TCS (Tamiya Championship Series) regional race. This was the 5th year in a row that i had won GT2.

Won Round 4 of the Midwest All Star Series in the Trans-Am Exhibtion class by a good full lap.

Won The United States Vintage Trans-Am nationals making it my 3rd national championship.

Won Round 5 of the Midwest All Star Series In the Trans-Am Exhitbition class again. And clintched the Brushless (motor) Cup (the fastest class in the All star series) I didn't have to run the class due to the fact that i already had the points wrapped up after 7 months of racing

Came 2nd in GT2 in the Tamiya North American Finals for the first time since 2001. (watch for the race report coming up soon)

So basically in all the national championships i've competed in this year, i've never missed the podium, which is a first in my career. I plan get more victories before 2008 comes to an end.

I went to the Wong People Kung Fu Tournament in D.C. and competed in sparring for the first time.

The result was that I took 1st place in open-style Intermediate Heavyweight sparring. My title fight was against a superheavyweight who probably outweighed me by 40-50lbs.

Also took 2nd place in Wing Chun forms and 4th place in Chi Sao, which is a form of sparring where you and your opponent's forearms are constantly touching, and you try to trap and hit instead of box.

It was an incredible experience and I learned a whole lot. It really boosted my confidence in my sparring ability. Next year, I may move up to Lei Tai - which is a more intense form of sparring than what I did. I also hope to do better in Chi Sao, and maybe even move up to advanced Wing Chun forms.
