Did you see your doctor last week about the difficulty breathing?
Did they give you any meds or information?

acid reflux can have a lot of different causes. Get it checked out and see if you can figure out where that's coming from. Something that is hard for you to digest, eating at the wrong time, drinking at the wrong time, mine started with the meds I was on for "something else" and it gave me acid reflux, ending up today, years later, with GERD. Talk to your doctor about other things you can try to manage the problem. You might have to eliminate things from your diet, change portions and times you eat or drink, or make other changes. Don't give up, hope you can find what is causing the trouble and make adjustments. It sure no fun to have to deal with that!

I get that when I'm in bed sometimes. It goes off if I sit up but it can take an hour or two. I probably wouldn't get it if I stopped pigging out on fatty food just before bed, but fatty food is very nice and I hate refraining from pleasure.

It might be wise for you to get medical advice if homespun interventions don't work, if you can afford medical advice.

It happens when a valve doesn't close properly and allows the stomach contents, which are usually acidic, to squirt back up into the oesophagus. Causes include dodgy diet, obesity, some medications (e.g. calcium channel blockers, nitrates, antihistamines, and certain asthma drugs), gastroparesis that's slowing down the emptying of the stomach, connective tissue disorders (whatever they're supposed to be), and stress.
