I dont usually "Maintain" myself very well. I dont like shaving my legs but Id feel embarresed if someone found out. I enjoy a good shower, but I dont like taking the time to use soap, and sometimes I dont even shower at all.

Am I just gross, or are there others out there like me?

I have a terrible time trying to keep up with hygiene. I wish I could say that I enjoy a good shower, I hate water coming at me from above. Also my body temperature isn't the same all over, so the water is cold to my head and too hot to my torso. If I can stay there long enough, it'll even out, but it's no fun. Then I get out and the cold hits me like a block of ice - I grab my bathrobe and run back to bed.

Can't take a bath - I'm too old and fat, can't get up.

And yet - I love water! I mean, in oceans and lakes and streams. You can't keep me out of that sort of thing. But not a nice little waterfall, nah, I'd hate that.

You're ahead if you enjoy a shower. As for soap, you don't need a lot unless you work in a coal mine or something. Maybe you could skip soap and use sanitary wipes and then deodorant - works for me.

There are.

I sometimes shave my legs.

I don't like showers (but since I run everyday, I usually take one every day aside from friday nights/ sunday nights because I don't do anything on saturday with people and I don't do anything strenuous on sunday).

I do like my soap though, but it took some time. I use a liquid soap that smells like strawberries. Sometimes I use one that smells like orange spice. The point is, find a smell that you like, it is very motivating if you know that you like the smell of the soap.

My hygiene is sub par to say the least. I rarely ever shave my armpits or legs and there are days when I skip showering and brushing my teeth. I just become so absorbed in my interests that I forget to take care of myself.

I am currently using lists again to keep on task. The first things on my list to do each day are "brush teeth, put on deodorant, get dressed, brush hair, put on lotion"... every other day shower is on the list because I have dry skin and hair and should not shower daily. But I just forget to do that stuff if I do not have reminders, and if I do not shower during my 'shower time' I will not do it because it entails so much (it is a huge process for me consisting of many details) and then I get overwhelmed and my whole day is off.

my weird body chemistry makes me reek even if i bathed in clorophyl. therefore i stink most of the time, but when i have to go out of the house and into town once a week for my sundries, i take extra pains to shower myself thoroughly and use abundant soap and deodorant, which makes me smell like the soap and shampoo aisle of the local mart even before i get there. in the hot season, i have to bathe 2 times daily or else i just become unbearably stinky even to myself- this is good because it removes one excuse for me to not go out and exercise.

Exactly! What's so off-putting about showers is how many dozens of details are involved!

I take showers daily. Don't like the feeling when the water hits my skin, though. Sometimes it feels like tiny needles piercing my skin (that's why I have problems shaving as well). However, if the water is hot enough, it becomes bearable. My reason for showering daily is because I don't want people to think I'm any weirder than they already do.

When I was younger I didn't wash often at all, my hair was constantly matted, amongst other not-so-nice things

A small point - you don't have to use soap to wash with, I've not used soap or shampoo in years as it's better for health, skin and hair - not really reliant here, but the point is that you don't need to use soap to be clean.

Ive tried not useing shampoo but my hair gets too oily if I dont.

I dont mind soap or shampoo if it is a mixture that works as both a body wash and shampoo, but I cant find anything like that at the stores I usually shop at. Can anyone tell me where I can find some Soap/shampoo for sale.

On a side note, I want to call the soap/shampoo mix, "Soapoo", but that doesnt sound very good, what else should I call it?

why not call it shoap?
anyways, there are body washes out there, but the ones that are suitably astringent for hair [IOW they dissolve greasy accumulated skin oils] dry-out the rest of your body- there are moisturizing body washes good for your body, but when you try to wash your hair with such, it takes forever to rinse the stuff out unless one has very short hair.. the best bet is separate shampoo and body wash, IMHO.

As with most things, I only know extremes. When I was younger, I was too occupied with myself to care about personal hygene. Now, I couldn't even leave my flat without taking a shower and washing my hair. I have long and very thick hair, and I don't wash it at least once a day, that is all I can think about until I do. I also HATE the feeling of lotions and cremes on my skin, but my skin gets so dry if I don't apply them, so I kinda got used to them even if it is still a fight every day to apply them to myself. One thing that drives me insane, and which why I chew nails, and I can just chew them shorter than I ever could cut them with scissors, is when there is dirt under my finger nails or on my hands in generel. If there is something sticky or gooey on my hands, I cannot focus on anything else until I get rid of it.

If I'm lucky I bathe(shower) every three day which is really bad for me because my hair gets really greasy and by the third day it's at a point where I can lightly press the balls of my fingers on my scalp and actually see the oil build up on them. I go for at least three weeks between tooth brushings. I've gotten lazy with my aesthetic upkeep too. I used to depilatory my legs and pits weekly-biweekly now it's lucky if I even so little as wax regularly. My face is a mess 'cause not only do I not wash it regularly but I also constantly pick and prod at my acne.

@ Kimmy I was going to suggest just getting a bottle of the, shoot I don't remeber the brand, or axe bedywash/shampoo combo but those are men's things and I don't think you'd like the scents... I know I don't and if I ever have to buy anything mens for myself, which has been deodorant the odd time or two, I try to get the leas manly scent.

Though from my opening paragraph it sounds like I'm just fine with being dirty it actually drives me crazy that I'm that bad with my hygiene practices.

side note @ Auntblabby... sundries?

sundries [plural noun]- miscellaneous things: small miscellaneous items, often of too little value to be mentioned individually. i use this word to describe the must-have stuff [food and soap and such] that i need for day-to-day living, that i shop for in my weekly excursions into the hustle and bustle of greater hooterville. 8)

I dated a man who bought "Jergens" brand shampoo/soap in one. I think it was geared for men but just smelled like Jergens lotion to me. You could also use baby shampoo - you know, the big yellow bottle of tear-free stuff... that's a mild shampoo and soap in one. Should be able to find generic brands at the dollar store, even.

As for me, I'm not dating so I can go without shaving for months - I'll shave whenever it finally bothers me. I also hate all the steps/process of the shower, and do so only twice a week, generally. My hair gets yucky until then but I keep it up in a bun and don't leave house when it's that bad.

I always feel better after the shower, but it just feels like such a long huge effort to get there. There are a million things I'd rather do than interrupt my day for that.
