I'm looking for some healthy snack recipes. If anyone feels like contributing or chit chatting please do. Here is my contribution, hope you like it!

Ingredients:
Three plain, or Salted, or Butter Flavored Rice Cakes
One Small Can Of Fish. Tuna, Salmon, whatever you like is fine.
One Red Bell Pepper and One Green Bell Pepper
One Small Yellow Onion
One heaping tablespoon of Mayo (you can choose fat free if you like)
Spices(Optional). I use one tablespoon of black pepper, and if the Rice Cakes are plain I might add a couple pinches of salt. Many other spices can be used though. Go crazy!

Direction: Take out three rice cakes and set them to the side. On your cutting board, lay out the peppers, chop them up into small pieces, I mean small! When you are done, put them in a bowl. Now move onto dicing your onion, when finished they should also be placed in the bowl. Open your small can of fish, and dump that in as well. Get your Mayo out, and slap that in the mix. If you use spice, now is a good time to add it. When finished, stir the bowls contents up real good, and mash it a little bit, just make sure all of the ingredients are mixed up well together. Get your rice cakes on the cutting board now, and start stacking the mixture of ingredients onto your rice cakes and there you go you are ready to eat your snack once you are finished stacking. A healthy, tasty, easy, quick, and low calorie snack at that, which can aid in weight loss, and weight management.

Unfortunatelly I cannot try your recipe because my hudband and I are on a plant-based diet, which means: no meat. I do not get very well what do you mean by snack, because the recipe you posted sounds more like lunch to me. For me a snack is something small and light you have when you get hungry between meals. That is my recpe: something light to have between meals. We also bring it to the movies so we can snack something because we cannot have anything they sale there.

Raw granola
1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1 tbsp raisins
3 dried apricots, chopped
1 tbsp almonds, chooped
1 tbsp walnuts, chopped
1 tbsp sunflower seeds
Mix all the ingredients together. Enjoy!

Well, we are all different. Sorry you cannot eat this particular snack. That's a light snack for me. I actually forget to mention the servings, my bad, there are three, one rice cake + ingredients each. Nobody has to eat all of them at once for a snack. Maybe just one or two... The rest going to others or to be saved for later. One rice cake+ ingredients would be around 80-100 calories I believe. The nice thing about the peppers is they are low in calories, many even consider them a negative calorie food because they are low in calories, and tend to help burn calories after being consumed. I have read that onions are similar to what they do in the body as well.

Your recipe sounds quite nice. Lots of nuts and some seeds in there, and a nice lot of fruit. I need to add more nuts and seed to my diet so thank you I think this recipe may help!

I don't eat fish, but can easily replace the fish with cottage cheese, so thanks for the recipe.

One of my favs is peanut butter sandwich with mashed banana or pb sandwich with fried onions, cubes or rings, doesn't matter.

Then there are many including cottage cheese, either spicy or sweet, just use what you have at hand like tomatoes, cucumber, fresh peppers, herbs, grated cheese etc. For the sweet version add ripe fruits, sugar and cinnamon.

The tuna and Mayo alone will be 100, IF it's a light variety of Mayo.

Depends on the size of each, obviously.

I could have an entire small head of cauliflower for that. :)

PTSMorrow- Sounds interesting. I have never actually had banana on a PB sandiwch, same for fried onions! That's unique. Glad you enjoyed the recipe!

ValentineWiggen- That's not really a recipe, regarding the post about cucumbers. For the other post, I disagree, but at the moment I don't really feel like getting into it. Caulifower is good. I have a recipe for that too. Maybe I should post it.

Bubbles137- Do you have a recipe for porridge?

I got a new recipe I will post later. It has to do with leafy greens and some spices baked in the oven. It was pretty good last time I tried it, but a bit overdone. Just trying to finetune the recipe so it turns out really good and then I will post it.

I forgot "season with your favorite spices".

Hummus!! !
I usually but it because I am lazy but I do make it as well.

1 or 2 cans of garbanzo beans
1 or 2 teaspoons of tahini

Put through food processor. You can use a blender though.

Add water slowly to get consistency you want.

Add whatever flavors you want

I generally use lots of garlic but i love garlic.
I have used sundried tomatoes or jalapeño but really whatever you like.

I know this isn't the most accurate recipe but I have been making it for years and don't follow any specific recipe.

Yay to plant based diets!!

Get some apples and cut the tops off so they are flat. Put them in a baking dish and sprinkle brown sugar on them. Cover them with aluminum foil and bake on about 325 until they are soft.

Here is a dip I make for vegetables and pretzels. A container of sour cream sprinkled with garlic salt (not garlic powder). Keep mixing and tasting if until it's how you like it.

Thats really all I've got thats healthy, but here is one that isn't too unhealthy.

Get a stick of sweet unsalted real butter and let it sit out and get soft. Get a bulb of garlic and peel the papery stuff off. Slice the very top off which will leave some of the cloves uncovered. Put it in two pieces of aluminum foil, pour a tiny bit of olive oil on it and bake it on 425 for about 45 mins to an hour, so it's soft when you squeeze it. Turn it upside down over a dish and squeeze out the soft garlic. Pick out the pieces of peel. Add the soft butter to it and mix. Spread on fresh bread.

ValentineWiggen- I'll have to look up what spices go well with raw cucumber, thanks.

Neerdowell- That sounds good. I've never had hummus, but it seems like it would be good. Thank you.

OliveOilMom- I ike the sound of that apple recipe, I think I have some around maybe I will try it soon. Question, do you put just the tops in or the whole apple? Hmm, I have never tried sour cream before. Guess some day I will, so I will keep that in mind. Wow, I really like the sound of the garlic spread/butter mix to spread on bread. Maybe it's not the healthiest, but then again portion size comes into consideration, so no biggy. Another question, can you refrigerate the butter and garlic for later use?

The whole apples. I throw the tops out.

Real butter doesn't need to go in the fridge. Margerine does. I leave my butter out all the time so it's soft.

The whole apple, hmm sounds great!

Real butter, you mean the stuff you can buy at any grocery store?

Here is a new recipe, it's kale chips! MMM.. I know a lot of people might think that sounds awful, but it's great! Tastes a lot like real chips, with a slight greens twist. I tested out a few recipes I found on the internet, and made my own from what works best in my oven and to my tastebuds. Here it is...

Ingredients
A bunch of kale, enough to cover a baking pan or dish.
1 TBSP olive oil, preferably sprayed on the kale, but you can also just drizzle it over kale in a bowl and mix it up as well.
Spice(Optional) I like a few pinches of cayenne pepper, ground sea salt or garlic/onion salt, minced garlic, and a generous amount of fresh ground black pepper.
A handful of any grated white cheese(Optional)

Directions:
Set Oven to 350 degrees F
Wash kale and dry completely. This is very important, or else you could end up with chewy kale.
Get a baking pan/dish and a layer of aluminum foil or parchment paper. Spray it lightly with cooking oil (Pam)
Put the kale onto the baking pan/dish and spray with olive oil. Alternative method, put kale into large bowl, drizzle the olive oil over kale, and mix it up so all of the kale is oily.
Set it on the baking dish and sprinkle spices evenly on top of the kale(or not)
Now put the kale in the oven for 10-14 minutes, around 10 minutes, pause the time, check on it, take it out, and turn the kale leaves around so to cook more evenly. Put back in and continue to cook until time is up.
Once time is up take them out, mix the kale up again, and then sprinkle cheese evenly on your kale...
Put back in the oven for 4-6 minutes, and make sure to keep an eye on it in case it burns...
Once it's finished it should be crsipy, not chewy, not burnt... Just crispy, kind of like a thin chip! And of coarse... DELICIOUS! Especially with spices and cheese! Low in calories and very healthy. Tadaa!

Right now, I'm really into cottage cheese and blueberries.

But these recipes sound ten times better because they take more preparation.

Yep, real butter. Unsalted. You don't have to get Land O Lakes, the store brand is fine.
