I really, really, really, really hate running! It just makes me feel sick, tired and sore. And it's super boring! Also, I'm terrible at it.

What are some alternatives to running?

NOTE: I am not asking for ways to make running more fun, I want alternatives!

Jumping as high as you can for as many times as possible before you're out-of-breath.

I do that frequently when I'm restless. XD

Also I know it's old, but I'm oldschool. There's always Dance Dance Revolution.

Regarding old school.
We still have Richard Simmons Dancing to the oldies.

Side note I used to be in a band that I sub called Oldies playing the Oldies. At 62 I was the youngest. (On harmonica which us a good lung workout when played for a couple of hours.

Trail running. It's actually not running at all, it's hiking. Speeds are much lower and it's rarely boring as your mind has to pay attention to the terrain. If you push yourself to the point of feeling sick or tired, you'll never make it to the peak or finish the trail loop so one of the first things you learn is to pace yourself. Great way to observe / be part of nature, too. You have to have hills or mountains, though...

Surfing. Useful to have an ocean nearby. If not, swimming in a pool is okay, too, but I find it boring for exercise. Back-and-forth-and-back-and-forth...

Roller derby training. Good workout and if you join a team most groups are kinda alternative so they tend to be more accepting of auties. Have to have a rink nearby.

Look up burpees on YouTube. You'll burn more calories in minutes than what you would burn of in an hour of jogging. Do one more burpees every day

Jump roping is a very underrated cardio exercise. I know several bodybuilders who swear by it. Granted, it is hard to learn at first.

I found it brutal on my knees. Not the joints but the skin. I can roller skate well but for some reason jump roping is beyond my coordination skills. Or off to the side. Whatever.... :)

I second trail running! Or at very least, just plain hiking. It's never felt like boring 'ol exercise to me :)

Rowing, if you're near water, is a great whole body exercise.
Great for core strength.
