Must admit at the beginning I was indifferent but they turned out to be memorable.
For Great Britain it was the best Olympics for 100 years.I believe a disgruntled Australian
official said the Brits only win when we're sitting down (cycling, rowing, kayak) :) . That
was disproved with golds in the athletics and swimming. The Chinese organisation was fantastic and I think the genuine friendliness of the people in general shone through. In the women's
Tae Kwon Do the Chinese contestant sportingly conceded that the judges had completely
missed what should have been a winning kick from her British opponent and the result was
overturned.I enjoyed the closing ceremony and I was pleased for Leona Lewis - a couple of years ago she was working in an office before applying for the X Factor and has now sung in front of a global audience.Last but by no means least, the performances of Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt were incredible.

The sun newspaper commissioned billboards to gloat about the brits finishing higher then the aussies.
I remember the russian applauding steve hooker after he won. and i remember one of the competors on the mens walk (20Km i think) passing a water bottle to the aussie Jared Talent. great displays of sportsmanship.

the paralympics start next month.

I agree about the greatest stars of the Olympics (Phelps, Bolt, Liukin, Johnson and most of the Americans in team sports.)

the american basketballers were really good.
the aussie ones did well. opals got silver.
boomers got knocked out in the quarter finals by america. they had to go up against countries like argentina, lithuiana and russia before america. really good teams.

do you think softball should come back for 2016?

It should and Baseball as well. If Tokyo gets 2016 or Chicago either of them will added them back because they have good program in those sports. (Japan is crazier for baseball and softball than us)

I beleive the biggest upset in the Water Cube belongs Rebecca Soni in 200m Breaststroke beating World Record Holder "Lethal" Leisel Jones in the last 100m meters and taking the World Record. USA has a tradition in 200m Breaststroke with the gold medal. Believe or not 25 world records were broke and set at the Water Cube with those morning swims. (That beats Sydney and Athens combined (18) )

they sure are. I have seen features on japanese baseball games on TV and it is so noisy. apparently in osaka there are bars for fans of the local baseball team Hanshin Tigers. Whenever the team wins the bar sells beer for 40 yen. really cheap.
