umm, no thats actually quite true.

About the low weight-to-height ratio, they are not building muscle, or their weight would be higher and raise their BMI. So are you suggesting that they are starving themselves to look thin? I think it would look pretty obvious if they were anorexic.

Every article I've read on women celebrity's ways to stay fit had some sort of combination of a strict diet and low-intensity exercise, like it was said. What do you propose they do to stay thin instead?

Edit: I just saw that you edited your post. Uh so I will edit mine too

That "most women" can look like models, IE, have BMI's bordering on fertility-threatening, by avoiding junk food and binge drinking?

Yeah?

Source?

Whoa, so like female celebrities don't actually say they're anorexic? Who'da thunk it?

It's all DIET-N-EXERCISE to weigh 90 lbs, baby. :D

So, where is this source that being underweight means being anorexic? Should I also assume that those who are overweight are unhealthy, too?

I have a couple of friends who have tiny stomachs and fast metabolisms. They can really not put on weight, and they look underweight, but they are completely healthy. If they could put on weight, they would, since they eat healthily, and exercise.

My brother is also underweight, not anorexic, but unhealthy. And he doesn't exercise or eat right. He eats high-calorie food and plays video games. So... They aren't necessarily starving themselves.

The burden of proof falls to the one making the affirmative claim-
I didn't see anyone claim the above,
but maybe I missed it?

You'd have to ask them.

it seems to me that there isn't much time difference between Jennifer Aniston's workout and , i.e. Brad Pitt's

Quote:
“I work out almost every day, at least five or six days a week,” she says. “I do 40 minutes of cardio: spinning, running, the elliptical, or a combination of all three. Then I do Pilates one day a week, and I do yoga in addition to that, three days a week.”

When she travels, Aniston also likes to take some of her routine with her — something the exercise-obsessed Rev. Al Sharpton would surely agree with.

“I take 8-pound weights with me whenever I’m staying in a hotel,” she says. “It’s always good to do arm exercises when you’re watching television or talking on the phone. I also love to stretch before I go to bed, and usually throw in a couple of sit-ups.”

http://www.mnn.com/health/fitness-well- ... ut-regimen

Hugh Jackman wasn't a good example to use because he is more muscular in his action movies than any average man would ever need to be. so i googled "sexiest man" and came up with Brad Pitt. his workout regime for Fight Club:

Quote:
Pitt’s workout was based on a training routine targeting only one muscle group per day. He did 3 sets of 15 reps per exercise and rested for 1 minute between sets. The amount of weight he used caused him to reach failure on his last rep but still be able to keep good form – training to failure isn’t something I usually endorse either. It is a great way to add size though!

After 4 straight days of resistance training, Pitt hit cardio to ensure that his body remained in a fat burning mode. Here is an overview of his Fight Club workout:

Monday – Chest
Push-ups – 3 sets of 25 reps
Bench press – 25, 15 & 8 reps @ 165, 195, 225 lbs
Nautilus press – 15 reps @ 80, 100, 130 lbs
Incline press – 15 reps @ 80, 100, 130 lbs
Pec deck – 15 reps @ 60, 70, 80 lbs

Tuesday – Back
25 pull ups – 3 sets to fatigue
Seated rows – 3 sets @ 75, 80, 85 lbs
Lat pull downs – 3 sets @ 135, 150, 165 lbs
T-bar rows – 3 sets @ 80, 95, 110 lbs

Wednesday – Shoulders
Arnold press – 3 sets @ 55 lbs
Laterals – 3 sets @ 30 lbs
Front raises – 3 sets @ 25 lbs

Thursday – Biceps & Triceps
Preacher curls – 3 sets @ 60, 80, 95 lbs
EZ curls cable – 3 sets @ 50, 65, 80 lbs
Hammer curls – 3 sets @ 30, 45, 55 lbs
Push downs – 3 sets @ 70, 85, 100 lbs

Friday & Saturday – Cardio
Treadmill – 1 hour at 80-90% MHR

Sunday – Rest (finally!)

http://fitnessblackandwhite.com/brad-pi ... b-workout/

he wouldn't have spent any more time than Jennifer Aniston staying fit.

I don't think that's strictly true. True, women are not expected to have the same muscle mass as many people like to see in men (though personally I don't get the muscular thing), but I think you'll find most female celebrities will still be toned. Particularly the abs. If you lack muscle definition in that area, you can be very skinny, even underweight, and still have a "tummy bulge" just because of the shape of the internal organs.

Actually, most women would be equally toned at a low body fat level. Victoria's Secret models are deliberately kept at a low muscle level--which is one of the main reasons why they're unhealthy. Honestly, their body fat levels are in the lower end of the 20's, which is why many of them look quite scrawny.

Lower end of the 20's????????? 8O 8O 8O

It's lower than that! The lower end of the 20's is about Rihanna's body type / shape.

Most supermodels are 19% or under for sure. (some as low as 14%)

I don't think you realise what you're saying here.

Most models and dancers I know deliberately lie when people ask them how much they eat, what they eat, how much they exercise and what type of exercise.
They want people to think they mantain it effortlessly - but it's very rarely true.
Even those of us who are naturally lean with a good amount of muscle still have to put some work into it.
I would suggest you go looking for data because much of what you have been saying does not add up in my experience.

I agree with what you say Kjas, my experience has been the same.

And what about the significant percentage of women who have been through childbirth? Are we supposed to have effortlessly good bodies too? Try stuffing a basketball inside your tightest shirt for nine months, and when you take it out, see if the shirt immediately shrinks back to its original size

It's possible to get good muscle tone without adding excessive muscle mass, and this seems to be the ideal for female celebrities/models these days. Too much work for me :)

Time and intensity are two different things. If Aniston quit yoga and spent 1/3 of the time on jogging instead, she'd get just as good results. Jennifer Aniston is actually a poster girl for what personal trainers call "f*ckarounditis".

Doing exercises with 8 lb dumbbells while watching TV isn't intense enough to yield results and nor are a few sit-ups (she probably means crunches) before bed.

You won't find most celebrity workouts on Google. The infamous Tyler Durden workout that's gone viral on the web is fake. Not only do most people respond poorly to working their muscles once a week, but you can't build a physique like that primarily with isolation exercises and low-intensity bodyweight exercises. According to many respected PTs, he (like Jackman) built his physique primarily with deadlifts, squats and bench presses, but also by rowing an doing pull-ups. Lastly, if he worked out like this, his proportions would be mismatched--if you bench press 225 lbs for 8 reps but can do no more than 165 lbs times 8 on a lat pulldown machine, your back and your arms would be dwarfed by your pecs.

Furthermore, bench pressing, rows, arnold presses and so on are FAR, FAR more demanding than yoga and 8 lb dumbbells.

Jennifer Aniston gets amazing results, first of all, so your criticism of her workout makes no sense - her body looks looks very very good. i do not think she wants to look like Hugh Jackman.

EDIT: nor do most men strive for that. it's neither an accurate assessment of a typical male figure in hollywood nor an accurate assessment of what men in general seem to be idolising.

"demanding" is not at issue here. the issue is that you seem to think that hot female celebrities have it easier than male celebrities do, but that is not actually true, as they work out extensively. they expend roughly equal amounts of time getting their beach-ready bodies together. whether or not you personally think they are doing the best possible training is not relevant. many members of both genders in Hollywood work hard to look like they do.

your idea of what is "harder" is also subjective. as a teenager in gym class, i could push/pull/press more times my body weight than any other student in my grade (female OR male). BUT i was unfit and failed P.E.. for me, weights were easy, but cardio/flexibility/balance/coordination was a struggle. so anything involving weight training requires a certain type of fitness or muscularity but it is not necessarily more demanding by default than yoga, swimming, or any other exercise.
