I walk everywhere. Though my addiction to this forum is dangerous in terms of fitness. That combined with my dancing (which I would liken to the energy spent running a marathon) keeps me in better shape than most other fogies.

Im still a tiny bit overweight, but as a result of learning how to cook for myself, practicing Aikido and Taekwondo, and a few other factors, I've gone from seriously overweight to pretty fit.

I don't much enjoy some of the training, and I imagine i'd still be seriously overweight if I didnt have a huge incentive to get good ASAP at my chosen martial arts. It's also good because going to the same dojos forces me to keep up social interactions where I wouldn't otherwise.

Sweet Akido is cool. Love those grabs and things they do. I like taekwon-do but I hate the Patterns that they do I never seem to be able to learn them. Anyway I do taekwon-do as well as a few other things.

I am very fit. With out abdomial definity :(. I will get it hopefully.

Graelwyn - Regarding staff work, out of the martial arts i know of, Aikido is fairly good for practicing efficient Jo use. it takes a lot of patience to learn the taijutsu (unarmed techniques) though.

MindOfOrderedChaos - I'd agree, the taegeuks are evil. I only know 1 (Taegeuk Il Jang Cheon), and that's simply because i spent 2 hours practicing it non-stop with a looping video demonstration.

However, Aikido has pattern work too, though instead of unarmed its for Jo work- you start learning the jo by first learning basic movements, then basic strikes, then 7-kana, then 13-kana, through to 31-kana - sequences of block/dodge - attack -block/dodge etc. It's not until you're fairly confident in at least 13 kana that you do anything more than one step movements with weapons. (One step movements are when your opponent uses a single repeated fixed attack, and you practice your response to improve your control, speed and timing - for example in bokken your opponent may go for a basic strike with his/her bokken, and you have to sidestep and strike to cut their wrist, or somesuch similiar form of practice)

same as TaeKwonDo taegeuks, it took over 2 hours practice for me to learn 13 Jo Kata, and I'm still not particularly confident in it.

How about... 5'6" and 110 pounds? You know, the point at which you look muscular, but only because what little meat is on you has to be muscle, or you'd not be able to move?

I'm just not a very hungry person.

I'm fat. Seriously I'm 171cm and I was 108 kg the last time I weighed myself, and I'm sure I've put on more weight since then! I hate it when people who are skinnier than me go "oh you're not fat, I'm fat!" Honestly, anyone with eyesight can tell I'm a big fat pig!

I'm now 182 lbs, a loss of 8 lbs from where I had been. I am 5'9" at age 20. I've been running a lot (30 min per day) and eating much less, so I am heading towards being fit.

I'm fat, too, and I've had a lot of failed attempts to lose weight.

I used to be really fat, but I´ve managed to lose a lot of weight. Now I´m about 10kg away from the normal weight of males in my age.

Maybe either being fat is an autistic trait, or I must be eating too much.

I am neither. There are two sides to family: My father's is on the thin side, and while my mother's (specifically) was fuller. I am the former. My brother is the latter.

Chubby/fat/obese all my life. My current BMI is 30. I'm 75 pounds lighter than my heaviest ever weight. This year, I've lost 20 pounds. Need to lose35 more pounds to get to a normal BMI. Since I lift weights and am getting more muscular, I could probably lose only 25-30 more pounds to achieve a healthy weight. I've lost weight without starving myself. Regular exercise and a healthier diet. At this rate, i might achieve my goal in one and a half more years.

im rather more fit than fat. its rather not at all being fat i guess. i weight 70kg at 186cm due to working out for, like, a bit more than a year... before, i was below 70kg.

as for fitjness... due to practising muay thai, i probably have a stronger punch and kick than the average guy, and some techniques work well enough with my physique that they could be considered knockout material... but i dont have the overall fitness level i desire (yet).

A few months ago I would have said "fat", but now I guess I'm somewhere in between "fat" and "fit". And still slimming down. I'm 183 cm and 89 kg. My goal is somewhere around 83 kg, it wouldn't be healthy for me (with my build) to weigh any less than that.
