Can you take niacin without flushing? It also comes in time-release capsules if you are prone to flushing.
Omega-3 (fish oil) tabs can help, as well as eating mono-unsaturated fats to help raise HDLs. More and more doctors are focusing on LDL/HDL ratio and not as much on overall cholesterol. Olive oil and peanuts (as well as peanut butter) are good sources on mono-unsaturated fats. Avoid sweetened peanut butter, whether sweetened with added sugar, or sugar alcohols like xylitol.
I tried Niacin years ago for OCD & I didn't notice any effects at all but I may of been taking the extended release one. I've done alittle research on it & cholesterol & I think I'll try the fast acting form. I'll order some in a week when a new statement starts on my credit-card.
Thanx for the other info too. I'll keep that stuff in mind.
