I don't, not for 2 1/2 years now. Am reformed.
I think I did enough drinking for about the next 30 years in the few years preceding that.

Just enough to drink away the amount of damage Trump is doing to this country....at least in my mind.

These days I will have a drink perhaps once a month, maybe once every few months. It's mainly got to do with going out and social anxiety.

I was never interested in drinking before I was of legal drinking age. And bad things would seem to happen when I would drink. I would mainly drink to cope.

2016 was worse to start with.
I had moved into a flat by myself, had no friends, nothing. I had left an extremely abusive relationship at the time and fell in love with an aspie man who rejected me/avoided me in the end. I didn't realise I was also neurodiverse. I drank all the time and I was extremely depressed. I was hospitalised for alcohol poisoning. It just so happened my parents were visiting at the time (interstate) and it was such a shameful experience. Plus footed with a huge hospital bill. Fun. Anxiety sucks. :(

I rarely drink. I shouldn’t drink at all because I’m under 21, but nobody follows that.

Having a minimum drinking age of 21 seems quite prudish to me. I thought you were meant to be the land of the free, not the land of overly restrictive laws.

^ I couldn't agree more.

I agree with that as well....I think if people are exposed to drinking in a regular manner around the age of 16 is better that restricting it. I mean you restrict it and teens will put themselves in danger drinking too much but being afraid to call authorties because no young person wants to head out with that party goer who overdosed on alcohol and had the ambulance called. I think if it is presented as more of a regular thing thats not a big deal or taboo, it will be less temptation for younger people to go overboard. And it would make it less appealing to run out on someone who has overdosed as opposed to calling the ambulance to help them.

I do like a sweet champagne for celebrating something or a cider if I'm in a social situation where people are drinking.

But I grew up with a dad who was a violent drunk and also an alcoholic. Horrible combination. His behaviour turned me off alcohol for the most part.

My dad has bee kind of an alcoholic....I mean he could be rick from that rick and morty show. LOl that is how I feel about my dad....or he reminds me and my brother of the character frank on Shameless if he wasn't quite so mean. But like seriously those are characters I compare to my dad Rick from rick and morty and Frank from Shameless if you combined the two and made them just a bit less blunt and nicer then that would be my dad.

Trouble is my dad was never 'violent' but I remember a few times when my mom took 'spanking' overboard....we just don't talk much about those incidents....I remember once trying to bring it up and my mom was so upset and offended over it...I decided it wasn't worth addressing in such a direct manner.

I drink socially (sometimes socially in that context is we're all getting drunk and having fun with it)
and sometimes I'll have a shot of tequila, or a glass of wine, scotch or mead before bed.

I don't like getting seriously intoxicated on a regular basis, but I enjoy many types of alcohol.
