unless you're doing a competitive sport in the summer with practices twice a day, in between which you bike to an outdoor (somewhat) manual labour job (it's groundskeeping so it's not a desk job but it's by no means hard work, which is a welcome change). no matter what you do you're pretty much guaranteed to lose weight. i'm so excited to be thin again, it's hard for me to retain my slim physique during the off season so i'm under 160lbs in competition but i jump up to about 170-175lbs in the off season. i'm still thin at that weight but i definitely look better during the summer, i miss last year's six pack (my first six pack ever!)

on a more serious note, i've known a lot of people who have made very good losses with weight watchers and they've kept it off at least as long as they've used the service, so it's a good idea.

I find that when I'm less agitated I eat less, and that requires antipsychotics. Risperdal tends to make one gain weight, however. I am trying 8 oz of water with a spoonful of organic apple cider vinegar stirred in. It works, but I don't do it consistently enough. I also eat lots of fish and beef, like roast beef. I have a big need for red meat, my whole family does. My problem is that I have little money, and carbs are cheap. Carbs are also evil, they make you gain weight. You need some, but you don't need the refined flour that's everywhere. I wish I had an oak tree on the property where I live, the native tribes ate acorns all the time, practically lived on them, and I'd love to try acorn mash. I've heard it's bland but VERY nutritious. That's a good carb.

PREPARATION OF GROUND ACORN MEAL

Pick up several cupfuls of acorns. All kinds of oaks have edible acorns. Some have more tannin than others, but leaching will remove the tannin from all of them.
Shell the acorns with a nutcracker, a hammer, or a rock.
Grind them. If you are in the woods, smash them, a few at a time on a hard boulder with a smaller stone, Indian style. Do this until all the acorns are ground into a crumbly paste. If you are at home, it's faster and easier to use your mom's blender. Put the shelled acorns in the blender, fill it up with water, and grind at high speed for a minute or two. You will get a thick, cream-colored goo. It looks yummy, but tastes terrible.
Leach (wash) them. Line a big sieve with a dish towel and pour in the ground acorns. Hold the sieve under a faucet and slowly pour water through, stirring with one hand, for about five minutes. A lot of creamy stuff will come out. This is the tannin. When the water runs clear, stop and taste a little. When the meal is not bitter, you have washed it enough.
Or, in camp, tie the meal up in a towel and swish it in several bucketfuls of clean drinking water, until it passes the taste test.

Squeeze out as much water as you can, with your hands.
Use the ground acorn mash right away, because it turns dark when it is left around. Or store in plastic for freezing if you want to make the pancakes later.

I had a diagnosis of prediabetes, so I lost 20 pounds in about 6 weeks and my blood sugar returned to normal. Is an iron will an autistic trait?

One thing I'd recommend Digger if it hasn't already been brought up either on the boards or at your TOPS meetings is to grab a small pad of paper and a pen that you can easily keep in a pocket and write down EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth for a week. You don't have to measure specific portions or try to calculate calories or anything but it's a real eye opener to some people just how many extra little things we eat.

I used to be a "forager" I'd skip breakfast have a good sized lunch and dinner and much on whatever inbetween... I kept a log for two weeks that showed that I probably ate an extra 1000 calories a day than I needed. It was kinda interesting. Also once you know that you have to write down what you eat you might not be inclined to grab a handful of chips/candies/whatever.

Another thing if you havn't done it yet is try to cut down on all Calorie containing beverages. A lot of people don't realize just how much sugar/empty calories are in each can of soda/glass of milk/whatnot. Diet Sodas arn't the best thing in the world but they work if you like sodas. I've switched from a ton of soda a day to mainly water and hot tea. Hot tea also seems to keep hunger down if you are calorie restricted.

I think the main the thing (very cliche) is not to think about it like a diet but a permanent change in habits. If you set a realistic goal like losing 0.5-2 pounds a week , then you can still eat a treat once in a while and it's not as unbearable as eating lettuce 24/7. If you lose 80 pounds over 3 years theres a lot less chances of them coming back after since you will be used to eating healthier/exercising. If you set yourself a goal like losing 50 pounds in 3 months you might make it but after 3 months if you just go back to your old habits it will just come back.

I used to be at least 200-220 pounds when i was 14-15 (never weighed myself but i was definitely overweight), since then i started doing a lot more exercise and eating a little less junk. I was at 155 pounds at my lowest ,but since then I got a lot more muscle so now I am at a healthy 180 pounds. Anyways i probably lost 70 pounds of fat or around that over the course of a few years . (and I it won't come back)
