That dog nose description had me making a yuck face for a moment there.

I do like olives, especially the green ones. I like them in part due to their metallic taste. I like that pink salt for the same reason... has a nice metallic hint to it.

I can tolerate olives on pizza or in a salad, but I'm not a big fan. I've only learned to tolerate them as I've gotten older, and they're still a little overwhelming, which is odd, because I like tomolives, tomatoes pickled in olive brine - and I love peppers, the hotter the better.

Can't stand mushrooms (except the magic kind), but its more a sensory issue than flavor-related, they're too slimy and squishy. I felt the same way about tomatoes and squash as a kid, but learned to love them later. Still won't touch okra - who eats vegetables with hair on them?

I loved all kinds of fish and seafood as a child and would eat shrimp until I was stuffed. Then we went camping and I watched my dad cleaning perch and catfish. Now its all I can do to choke down a fish stick smothered in tartar sauce. :eew:

I wonder if any of the olive lovers here would like to eat some olive-flavored ice cream? :chef:

Heh heh. I had this thought in my head about pimentos being the olive ice cream's version of chocolate chips. Blech. I would not eat olive ice cream. I am sure someone would though. Those places that serve things like gin and tonic ice cream make me laugh. I think there is a Peking Duck flavor out there as well.

I feel deprived because I was denied an opportunity to eat roast beef icecream, or spaghetti and meatball ice cream, or turkey and dressing-with-gravy icecream. :| yes, there are places back east and in san fran that serve that stuff.

I wonder if you could make those at home? My paternal grandfather would make ice cream now and then. I have an ice cream maker machine.. just a small store bought one... nothing like the set up my grandfather had, but it does make decent enough ice cream. Not sure how to go about making roast beef ice cream, but it sounds possible. If you have or could get a little ice cream machine, it could be fun to play around with flavors. I enjoyed it for awhile, anyway.

I tried making beer ice cream once, it turned into a gloppy mess. a chef I am not. commercial beer ice cream [like the stout ice cream ben and jerrys makes] is pretty good, fairly malty. :chef:
