UF1 Series round 5 1-19-13
I had an advantage coming into the next round and I was getting ready for the 5th round of the series and I was determined to come out on top.
During qualifying I barely made the A main but the seperation between first and last in the A main was only 5 hundreths of a second. The person who also took me out last round was assesed a 5 grid spot penalty. So i was happy that, incident was taken of. In the first round, I went from last to first in the A main but i came second overall by only two tenths of a second due to a battle in front of me that i had to slow down for. The next two rounds, I won easily and came first overall for the entire day. My teammate and great friend, came second behind me for the entire day and now we have a great lead in the contructors championship. I also have a good lead in the drivers championship as well too. With two more rounds to go. My team is going to work very hard to stay ahead of the pack and come out on top
UF1 Winter Series, Round 6 2-2-13.
The previous roumd. I had won and I was feeling good. I had drove a very good race and I had moumentum coming into next round. I felt confedent in myself and my teammate that we would come out on top.
In qualifying, I took the TQ position and I would start on the front of the first A main. Once the first A main began. I got off to a good start and began to break away from the pack. Two laps after my first pit stop, I tried to get past a slower car, but he took me out and sent me back a few positions. I ended up finishing third that race. In the 2nd A main, I was in a three way battle for the lead for the first few minutes and 2nd in front of me made a mistake and I was able to scoot on by. When I caught up to first place, I turned in too early in a corner and I got hung up on the boards. I got dropped down many positions. But I was able to finish 4th. In the final A main I was able to finish one position ahead than in the previous race. My overall position for the day was third place. Even though it was not the result I had expected. I was able to pull ten more points ahead of my biggest competitor and my team expaned our lead by 12 more points. The final round is February 16 2013.
I am finished with the report here it is.
UF1 Winter Series Round 7, 2-16-2013.
My team and I practiced real hard two nights before the race. I set the fastest lap by a good two tenths of a second which like going up 2-0 in a Soccer/Football game. Even though I had the series wrapped up, I was not going to just coast to the finish line.
Hideo Kitazawa, a racer from Japan, who is possibly a former Tamiya World Champion in the Tamiya Championship Series (Tamiya Grand Prix series in Japan) and created the RCF1GP Formula One Radio Control series in Japan in 2009, just before the UF1 series, was created here in the US. He has been to multiple professional world championships and has done very well in them. This would be my greatest UF1 test yet.
The morning of the race, while I was waiting outside for the track to open, I saw Hideo Kitazawa, Hop out of his car and I immediately made a bee line to introduce myself to him in his native language. Even though he would be a hard opponent to beat, I still wasted no effort to greet him to my home country, and make him feel welcome and at home. It would be a huge honor to meet him and to race him.
I was the fastest in morning practice and I had a faster lap time then Hideo, but I had to move on to the final qualifying session of the season.
Hideo was two races before I was so I got to watch his session before mine. After that, I stepped up onto the drivers stand and threw down my fast lap. It was extremely close; I lost TQ to him by only two-thousandths of a second. A fraction of a lighting strike.
After losing TQ position by a split of a hair, I was mad and I was determined to come out on top. I would not let the leader out of my sights. When the race started, Kitazawa stalled and I let up to not hit him and I was bumped from behind and dropped to third at the first turn. A few minutes later I caught up to 2nd and he made a mistake, and I slipped on by him to close in on Hideo. I got to Hideo at the five minute mark and waited for him to make a pit. He finally went in, after 7 minutes and I tried to get a gap on him. When I went in for my stop, Kitazawa just sneaked by. I did get right behind him though. A half a minute later I got caught up with a slower driver and he snagged me rolling my car over sending me back many seconds. I was able to catch up to him and be able to pull in front of him after he did his pit stop and after I had mine. I fended off Hideo for the last two minutes and won A main #1
In the second A main I was able to pull ahead of Hideo but he was able to reel me in at the 5 minute mark. With six minutes in, Kitazawa hit me from behind and I had to have my car flipped over. Hideo did wait for me and we continued our battle with him in front. After our first pit stops I was able to get out in front of him. With 5 minutes to go, My teammate let me and Hideo by coming onto the straight but as I and Hideo were coming into the infield, Hideo tapped me from the rear and got me a little sideways and my teammate got right under us and he bumped me from behind upsetting the balance of my car, rolling over again and Hideo went by. As our finals pit stops rolled by, with a minute and a half to go, Hideo was in front of me and I was just only inches behind him. With two laps to go, I took him out on the inside of the straight, I let him by as good sportsmanship and we battled it out to the end and Hideo ended up winning the second A main.
In the third and final A main, I would start behind Kitazawa again, but I still had hope that I could win. I would not go quietly into the night and not let Hideo run away with it. Hideo stalled again and had to hold up from behind once more but I get not get blasted from behind and we began our duel for 15 long minutes. I never let him out of my sights and I was always right behind him. We had our first pit stops and he got the advantage we me in tow. It was a constant tug of war between me and him trying to make up, or make ground on either of us. By the end of the race I need to make sure that when Kitazawa went in for his pit stop I would get right behind him when I would go for mine so I would get in front of him. Two minutes to go. Hideo pits. As he gets out I am only three feet behind him and I need to be closer. A minute and a half to go… one minute… thirty seconds to go, I have made up a much ground on Hideo as I can. I pit immediately. It just seems like forever to be in the box waiting for the timer to expire. Hideo comes around the corner, the pit light goes out and I spin the tires coming out of the pit and he creeps on by. Now I have to do everything I can to get in front of him. On the last lap, I swing out wide to set myself up for the corner to get on in the inside of him, but he taps the board and bangs me from the outside and I get sent off the track one the straght and Hideo goes on to win the final round of the of the UF1 winter Series.
Even though, I lost the final round of the season I still had enough points to win the entire series, I may have lost the battle, but I won the war. I did not nevertheless want to just coast to the line, I wanted to have an explosive end. Which I did! My team also had enough points to take the constructors championship as well.
I congratulated Hideo in Japanese on a fine race and a job well done, and after that, the top three drivers, the winning constructors team (my team), Hideo, and myself all got their pictures taken to be put on the UF1 website for the end of the winter season. On another note, I became the first driver in the UF1 series to win the championship. If you are interested, please check out the UF1 website for my post season interview. The interviewer screws the current year at the beginning but everything else is just fine.

Hi guys and girls. I would like to give you an update. The reason why I have not been able to work on the race report is be uase about three weeks ago I just got a job and I have been working 5 days a week and I have not been able to work on the report. It's no excuse I know, but I have been getting broken in trying to get accustomed to my job. On another note, I have a Tamiya Champioship Series race coming up this April 7th. So I will be working on my report a little bit today during breaks. Thank you.
